Going prospecting next week up around Edjudina (first time!). We dont want to
camp on the station so was wondering if anyone knew of any good
camping spots not too far from that area. Was considering the old Edjudina Townsite but dont know if its on the station or not. None of the maps I have show the
station boundary. I have a print out of the tenements so we can
camp on any inactive ones. Any ideas would be gratefully accepted!

I was up there for about a week with soome drilling a couple of years ago and more recently drove around there with Ben Spoon. AFAIK there is no VCL around there - it is all stations. There are quite a few old bildings around at least one of which was donre up for a now abandoned exploration project.
As far As i am concerned pastoralists lease the meagre scraps on the ground for feral goats and roos to feed on while the make money extorting it from exploration companys trying to create wealth for the state.
As a prospector (and australian) you have the right to
camp anywhere that isnt interfering with there activitys - so find a nice spot and set up
camp

Old Pinjin is a great place to
camp and explore (if you can find it - can be a bit tricky finding the track in) also Pinjin is a good place to look at with the old
homestead and the
mine etc at the rear - We were there 18 month ago and really enjoyed the trip

thanks trekkie
looks like an interesting place and as we will be going up on the
kurnalpi pinjin road will try to find it...had a look at google earth to see if i could pick something up and punch in the coords into the gps but couldnt see any features...you dont happen to have the coords? noticed that to the south east where the lakes are that most of that area is inactive tenements...worth a look do you think? dont know if there are old diggings there or not. thanks for for your help.
regards
greg

One thing to point out. Although some of the tenements may be inactive, you will still need permissing from the leaseholder to prospect on them. I assume you have a Miner's Right which also is a requirement. Heavy fines are inforce if you are caught prospecting ellegally in a leaseholder's tenement. Cheers
