I am looking at a Kedron Cross Country
The Kedron ATV is too heavy for me it has independent suspension
But it does not have independent suspension
It has Beam axle with military style shackle leaf springs with greasable polyurethane bushes
What disadvantage would this be as so many caravans have independent suspension

I don't know either of the vans you are talking about and there are some variations in the types of independandt suspension available.

In general terms I would suggest the following difference between beam and independant systems. Most independant systems are coil sprung and as with a car it offers a softer ride. Leaf springs generally offer a harder ride and better load carrying ability.

If you are buying a vehicle with either option I would guess that the coils are designed to carry the load of the van and whatever you put in it and therefore would be adequate for what you want to do, as would the leaf system.

I would lean towards the independant, but it won't make a great difference. If there are other reasons for buying the Kedron then go that way.

I had a Golf with independent suspension, rode beautifully and behaved very well on all road surfaces. Even had a blow out or two over the years and would hardly know it if it wasn't for the rumbling??

Currently have a twin beam axle van and it is a bit more rough than the golf but still acceptable. All up it is OK but could do with some shock absorbers.

The beam axles are inclined to self steer a bit if you drop off the edge of the road on some of those single lane roads in QLD. Particularly single axle.

Can I suggest to you that you get along to a 4x4/camping show, and have a look at a Trak Shak CT,, then go have a look at a Jayco,,
Independant vs Beam Axle,, there is no comparison, give me Independant ( coils,, ect ) every time !
They just do it easier, and do not hammer everything else in the CT

Cheers
