G'day all,
Anybody got any comments or comparisons they could offer on the Coromal Pioneer Compaq and the Trakmaster Perentie? Don't really want to part with the Tvan but it's a current consideration.
Thanks
John G

I know your feelings John - I am selling my Trak Shak cos I just bought a used 16' Bushtracker .
I enquired about a new Trakmaster and was told I would wait 12 months for as delivery . I then was going to order a 15 ft Phoenix off road and found the second hand BT at the last moment .

12 months!! Once we've made up our minds about the brand / model we want we will certainly be looking at used vans

John whilst I dont have a Perentie I couldnt be happier with My Kimberly or the dealings with the team @ trakmaster.
The 12 month wait would kill me, we only had to wait 6 months but worth even minute.
I have seen quite a few Perentie's @ the factory being built & complete, is there anything specific you want to know?

Thanks ddr,
At this stage just considering the size / cost and where will it go issues. From the usual chit chat around
camp sites both Trakmaster and Coromal seem to have good reputations.
Cheers

John
Loved my Trakmaster, build quality was unbelievable. 180000 ks through the Kimbereys , Tamani ,
Gibb River, Kalumbra, etc ,
nothing broke or fell off. More limitation on the 80 series than the van, and I drive hard. Could not recommend them more.
It was worth the 8 months wait.

Know nothing about the Trakmaster or Coromal, but earlier Supreme Getaway's are pretty much unbreakable.
I have heard about issues with more recent ones, but that seems almost typical with everything these days.
Just dont like rear door entry in dusty outback conditions.

G'day furph
Re rear entry - is that because sealing fails, or because the rear just gets very dirty?

One of the current issue caravan mags (not sure which one) has a review of the Perentie. Strangely enough it has a cover photo of a Bushtracker but it wasn't mentioned on the cover as being tested, didn't look inside. At the time I was wasting my money on a 4X4 Australia mag with a useless review of the 200 series cruiser in it.
I have a Trakmaster Nullarbor and love it. See my rig photos.

Thanks again for that reference GB
The mag in question had a review of both the Compaq and the Perentie so that was a bonus. Size (small) seems to be the main negative, with Trakmaster seeming to be the stronger build and better optioned vehicle. At +$10k more than the Compaq I guess that's wht you'd expect. Next issue is to get to see the vehicles - no dealers in
Canberra.
Cheers

John Trakmaster dont have dealers, you deal direct with the factory, there are no middle men to stuff up your requirements.

John,
We met a couple several years ago who owned a Perentie and had travelled extensively throught OZ. They loved theirs and this led us purchase a
Kimberley in 2003. Waiting times then were 8 months. We recently went with the Trackmaster club from
Hawker to Alice then onto
Marble Bar. It was a great trip however there were no Perenties on this trip.
We are very impressed with ours. They make a great van and provide a great service. We left the group in
Marble Bar and returned home via parts of the
Gibb River road, Tanami, Plenty and Donohue,
Cordillo downs road to
Innamincka and home via Queensland.
We will be upgrading in the future and building a larger Trakmaster with a few more comforts.
Regards
RnR
