two dark vehicles heavily disguised but clearly the 200 series or 130 or whatever they're calling them, were seen heading North from Adelaide today near Port Pirie...

Cheers
Andrew who got his camera out for the third which never appeared.

4X4 Australia November edition had a test drive report on the new 200 series. Petrol variety. They were full of praise. I would have preferred to see a test drive of the diesel. I will have to wait for that.

Nissan-Renault have also developed a new V6 3.0 litre diesel motor which puts out 195 KW and 550 NM. It would be a good replacement for the ZD30.

Who gives a toss about what it puts out, its only a 3L :(, but atleast its a 6-cylinder. I would be hedging my bets that even if the Patrol gets this motor it would be heavily detuned for our conditions and comparitively cr@ppy quality fuels.

Nissan; go over to Cummins and get a 24valve CRD 5.9l turbo and drop that into a GU. 244kw and 881Nm will destroy the new cruiser and given that it would only be at just above idle most of the time it would fairly economical.

And Mr Toyota; you have made a corker of a V8 diesel motor but unfortunately its in the wrong vechile, bung it in a solid axle version of the 100 series wagon full time 4wd with ST Patrol (power windows, carpet ect) type fitout with an auto and have it onroad for less than 65k and there would be a complete whitewash of the market.

Wheres my Genie in a bottle; so many wants not enough wishes.

Gday Andrew,

They had a 200series up at Rawnsley Park almost 2 weeks ago for the Toyota LandCruiser Clubs Aus gathering. Release was going to be at the Sydney 4wd show; Maybe one will be at this weekend's Adelaide 4wd show?????

The only dark coloured LandCruiser I've followed uo past Port Pirie was YOU - I was following you Friday before the long weekend from Port Wakefield onwards, but couldn't raise you on the UHF.

Cheers

My ph no is on the back of the car for future ref ;-) or S2627 on VKS737

The 4X4 Australia article was a bit of a lame duck. It was a review of the US version which is petrol only and is on YouTube and the US Toyota website.

What a waste of $8.50. Thank goodness I bought it with a $13 Lotto win.

The real deal will be released at the Sydney Motor Show in 3 days.

I'm surprised that no loose lips from the Landcruiser Clubs have spilt the beans on specs.

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy
