Hello all, hoping for some guidance for repair on our Goldstream Goldlink wind up camper trailer.
We had only recently purchased our trailer and not wanting to go through the agonising explaination of 'what happened' I am hoping someone could offer some advice on the repair of one of the four cables 'snapping'. Any advice please on a suitable repairer in western Sydney or possible costs involved.

Many thanks
Dean

Hi Dean, where are you located in Western Sydney? i am in Campbelltown and I have a Jayco service and repair manual. Even though it is a different manufacturer the principle should be the same. You can fix this yourself which will help you understand how the camper works.

If you want to give me your details + if my location is handy for you, and maybe we can work something out where you can have a look at the book or maybe I can copy part of it. What year is your camper van?

You can satisfactorily make a temporary repair by joining the broken cable with a cable clamp. You just have to make sure you don't do it in the range that of travel to and from the effected pulley. Obviously you will need to gain access to the space where the cables are by removing any covers which are usually screwed in place inside cupboards. You will probably need an additional length of cable which is easy enough to get.

It is a great way for you to not only understand how it all works, but also check it is all working and you won't have any other problems. Let me know if I can assist as mentioned above. (If you are real local to me maybe you can drag the van behind you to here??) Cheers Mick

give them a call. I ran them from Silent Grove in the Kimberly when I had a problem and they told me where to take it to get it fixed (after we'd made a temporary repair). I agree with Mick, learning how it works and how to get at it could save you some pain in the future!

Cheers, Nige

Dean, try Barnes Caravans at Lansvale. If their workshop service is anything like the service you get in the shop, you'll be on a winner.

A happy Barnes customer :-)
