Joined ten thousand bikes on the Cranbourne (vic) to Phillip Is big ride held each year. We all meet and line up in the main street - comletely taking over the town before heading down under police escort. Hundreds of familiies line the route to watch the spectacle. Flags and kids waving, horns tooting etc Its great fun.
Its something we 4X4 drivers should do once a year. Meet in a park and drive somewhere nice as a huge convoy. Perhaps raising some money for the salvos at the same time.
As bikers we also enjoy the huge annual Toy run from Melb. City to Williamstown. We ride into melbourne in large groups (clubs or friends) from many locations. Its something the 4x4 clubs could co-ordinate. Motorhomers have done it also. Just a thought.

DougT,
I guess I am a little sensitive this morning after spending the majority of yesterday afternoon by the pool with a continuous chain of people showing up, all of whom seemed to be in a raging party mood, probably brought about by the excellent temperature here yesterday, which has now left me a little sore and sorry:-(

It is an excellent idea though. I would love to see a large number of 4by's all getting together.........still dunno about meeting at the border.......which one would we meet at????

A run along the Kidman Way - Griffith NSW to Charleville Qld would be reasonable for all eastcoasters and pretty light on other traffic.
