This one is for all the Veterans out there, I have hit a bit of a hurdle getting my DVA claims sorted out. Basically they have accepted liability for my injury under all 3 Acts and I now need an Advocate to assist in the explanation of all the associated entitlements before I accept one, in other words I don't want the bastards to rip me off :))
Therefore can anyone give me the contact details of a decent Advocate in the SW
Sydney region.
Cheers Kev

Hi Kev,
Drop me an email andrew@vividadventures.com.au and I can put you in touch with a Vietnam Vet who is working with a number of advocates on behalf of vets (in
Sydney).
Cheers
Andrew.

Hi Kev,
You have got the hard bit out of the way at least! I contacted my local RSL and they put me onto someone. Also we have a mob over here similar to these guys
LINK. Found the RSL to be pretty helpful. I am at the same spot. Accepted under SRCA and MCRS. Discharge 9 Dec 07. If your not DFRDB(which I think I remember you telling me you where?) fill out a M40 for a pension claim through MSBS.
Good luck with it all
Matt

You could do a lot worse and speak to Vietnam Vets at Granville.
They will steer you in the right direction.

By the way depending how
young you are, you may be best to explore the VEA benefits versus the other two.
Depends how bad you are.
If you want to email me at
herkman@bigpond.com
I can play with the figures so you can undersrand.

Col,
Under the VEA they have classed my pension at 50% of the general rate just for lumbar spondolisis
The other Acts are covering the initial injury (SCRA) and the reaggravation (MCRA)
Cheers Kev.
I'll send you an email later this morning as I have just gotten home from the Hospital with a sick wife, if it's not me it's her LOL

It has been a few years now, but after the problems I had I was advised to go to the local RSL for advice and help. It helps if you are or become a member. They proved to be very helpful in what was a very stressful time.
Unfortunately I now have a bigger battle with an insurance company over a work place accident and injury which is proving more stressful. This makes the DVA issues I had seem minor now. Go to the local RSL even if it is only for a few words of advice, it should put you on the right track - Good Luck Mick

After lloking at the facts you have released, this is not a job for the RSL. Because it looks as if you may be covered under up to three acts. All of each have the goods and bads.
Because most people in the RSL are focusing on the VEA, there are not too many who are up to speed on the later acts.
As I am in Tasmania I cannot be much help, but the Vietnam Veterans office at Granville are one of the leading lights in these matters. They are in walking distance from Granville station.
You need to explain how you may be covered under three acts and you need to seek an appointment. Take all your docs with you, and stand by for action.
MEMBERS OF THIS
FORUM, need to understand that the RSL does not expect you to be a member of the RSL, and are in breach of their charter if they pressure you to join.

Col

Col,
As you have alluded to that's why I need someone with a knowledge of all the Acts. That way I'll be able to make an informed decision on the best course of action.
Thanks for the info that you have given.
Cheers Kev
