Just a quick question....this one is to anyone who has converted their 80 series to gas. Can anyone tell me how much I am looking at? I know about the $2000 subsidy, but I want to know the total cost. Also has anyone had any problems/faults after getting a conversion? I am fairly confident it's all good...but have heard conflicting stories that make me a little cautious?!

Not sure of the TOTAL cost but my father paid $2700 for his commadore to be fitted with gas
tank.....From what i know its the cost of the
tank and the labour tat you pay for.....
our is on lpg and is so worth it - $50 gives us a 400km range...No problems for us but you do need the car to be tuned to lpg and not petrol....
Laura
PS - thanks ZEV!!

Not dedticated to LPG...its dual fuel too. Every 6weeks or so I put $20 petty in so it can start for me.....
Its the best thing for your back pocket that you can do when you got a landcruiser!!

Not sure on wether they have different size tanks or not but a mate of
mine has his on gas and the
tank seems to sit very low and scrapes very easily on things and he has a 2 inch lift. I have seen others that dont sit as low so I'm just presuming there are different size tanks and his is the larger one. I pretty sure its 100 Litres if that sounds right. I'm sure he usually puts in around the 80/85L mark when empty ?? Can ask him if you like. He's had no issues with his. My other mates did but think it was a bodgy job from day one didnt even have a guard installed wasnt till he had rego inspection 12 months later that they failed it due to no guard needless to say when he went back to the place of instalment they have shut the doors. I'm sure you would have thought of the cost to move spare wheel to a new position in your total costing as
well.. regards steve M

Yer I think there are different size tanks, I got a quote from a local dealer yesterday and that was about a 100 litre
tank...with 90 usable litres or something. Sounds like your mate got a dodgy installer, it's pretty ordinary not putting a guard on it. The fact that the
tank is a bit lower in your mates rig, does that restrict where he can go and what he can do in it very much?
Does it hang down much more than what the spare tyre does at the moment? I didn't take much notice of that with the last conversion I seen.

Hi Doon, yes it does bottom out when he is 4wdriving but mainly when he is doing a bit more of the rougher stuff, I dont mean trying to climb rock faces with bolders sticking up from them but even up around the Newns up the mountains here in
Sydney (not sure where your located) I have been in it a few times and have heard it scrape across things. Yes it does hang lower then his spare did. He has now moved the spare to a rear carrier (replacement rear bar swing out) since having the gas fitted. That has been his only issue is a bit less rear clearance but other then that no problems what soever. But he also knows now that it will scrape and takes different ways to avoid it but not always. regards Steve M

Cheers for that. I'm in SA on the eyre peninsula so probably slightly different country but I think I would be alright. As you said, can always look for an alternative way if there's not enough clearance. As long as the
tank has a bash plate on it (just incase) I should be right. Thanks again for the info.
