Caravan & Camper Battery Charging Feedback

Help
I have a new Coramal Van & have a 2 panel BP solar panel and regulator fitted by the manufacturer and have an on going problem that they cannot resolve. When the van is connected to 240V and the sun activates the solar panes the 240 V charger emits a vibrating noise and I can only fix it by switching off the charger during daylight hours.
It would seem that the solar panel voltage is backfeeding to the 240v battery charger. can you assist.

Hi Gramac, yes i would have the same problem but i have a change over switch i fitted next to my power supply to switch charge between mains and solar panels and it works very well,no feedback issues.cheers Paul

gmack, some more information is required.

The solar panel outlet cable goes to what 'model' of solar regulator ?
Do the cables then go direct to the relevant Aux battery posts ??

If solar is wired correctly maybe the 240v battery charger is at fault ???

Mainey
Thanks for the follow up/
Two 80 W panels feed through a BP PL 20 regulator direct to the battery.
The charger is a Wialki Electronics SWwitch mode Battery Charger with an output of 13.8VDC @23Amps.

There is also another pair connected to the charger that I think goes to the fuse panel and via a large diode to protect from feedback to the tow vehicle ???

Graham,
(a) Do you still get the "noise" if you momentarily disconnect --> "the another pair connected to the charger that I think goes to the fuse panel and via a large diode to protect from feedback to the tow vehicle"

(b) does the "noise" increase or decrease with the variation of Amps going to the battery from the Plasmatronics regulator ?
Eg, if you hear the "noise" when Amps going to the battery, then actually 'cover' the solar panels with a blanket so little or even no amps relieved, does the noise decrease or stop ?

I have not been able at this pot to disconnect the pair as suggested as we are on the road. I shall do so at the first opportunity. The noise does increase and decrease as the load varies. I shall also try covering the panels with a blanket. We will be in Sydney for a week as of Sunday and I will have time to check the system out

Might need a diode in the charger line to prevent back feed.

Thanks
A have been advised that a diode would reduce the charge voltage from 13.8VDC to 13.2VDC

Graham,

Like TD100 (Paul) I have a switch to changeover when using solar feed or Power Supply feed.
They both go through the PL20 for charge regulation.

I find it a no hassle thing as most of the time it is on solar, and if you need say generator/power supply to recharge you have a few things to set up anyway, the changeover switch just being another thing.

Regards,
Jim
