Well it is now only 7 days until the removalists come and pack our stuff, 3 days of work left til I am unemployed, 4 for wife, 10 days till we are homeless and begin our drive up to the Fraser Coast to start our new life and business.
What a hassle trying to rent if you have owned your own home for a number of years with most agents seeming to look down their noses at you because you want to rent a house, not to mention they want to know the ins & outs of the proverbial ducks butt on application forms. Wanting income statements from here in SA as if that will apply up there as technically neither of us will have a job until after we arrive, silly really.
Biggest pain is going to be having to resort back to snail paced dial-up as ADSL isn't available, wireless won't get reception either and will probably end up with bi-directional satellite when we have built our new home at an extortionate cost.
As much as I DON'T want to give Tel$tra any money I think I will be forced to go the Next G path as I had trouble with my Optus phone's lack of signal whilst up there last week finding a rental. Will need to find a person with Next G and borrow phone to check coverage before committing to a contact to only find out it too will not give me the coverage I would like, especially from a business point of view.
Any offers would be greatly appreciated, we are going to "Glenwood" 1/2 way between Gympie and Maryborough.

Soooo looking forward to the move, but still so much to be done in the next week.

Going to build in Glenwood on 2 acres we bought just over a year ago and going to start my own Electrical contracting business. Am very much looking forward to being my own boss and making the money for me and not someone else for a change.

You'll miss the SA winters mate. we moved to Sydney 10 years ago and when we see the weather rports that show Sydney's max 25 and Adelaide 14, we get real homesick - NOT!
Still a beaut place to visit tho'.

WOW - I am sooo excited for you. CONGRATS.

I'm doing similar myself in a couple of months. Vic to QLD - outback Bundaberg way. Caravanning it whilst homeless.

Keep in touch with all the ins and outs and any offers of advice please. Enjoy your new life.

I'll wave as I go by.

Best wishes
Selena

Congrats!

KNow how you feel about rental properties we are going through a similar thing with moving back to Adelaide. Agents won't give you an application without a viewing (even though they have posted plenty of shots on the internet) but we live 400km's away!

Better still you look at one then have to fill out the application (so they can present all the applicants to the owner to choose from) to then be told another couple have a pet and this is one of the few that allows pets so if they are interested they will probably get it. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

Welcome to Qld, and also to a pretty corner of it Mr & Mrs Shane L. I hope you are both very happy here. You might have trouble with phones if you are low down behind the mountain there, but maybe not, as the repeater stations are on top of the same mountain.

Shane,

I have 7 weeks from today before we do the removal thing for our return to QLD :))

I am very much looking forward to it.
I hope you have a safe and stress free move.

Thank you all for your kind wishes, not too stressed as yet but not getting much sleep, mind is going million miles a minute thinking of what still needs to be done etc. The drive should be stress free as the kids and cats are being looked after till our furniture arrives and will fly up. Less disruption to their routine this way. Will have them enrolled in school prior to their arrival for the last few weeks before the holidays so they can get to meet some new friends etc.
Biggest hassle so far was finding a reasonable priced vechicle transporter for wifes car and the camper (will be towing trailer with work stuff)
What will we have to do to change to QLD rego? 1 car, 1 4X4, 1 Camper and 1 Trailer.
