We've decided on Fraser for July school hols. Have read some postings back to Jan this year and there was mention of beach closures to traffic. Particularly from the Hook pt barge up the beach to Dilli Village. Some say that the inland track has to be used. Also some talk of beach closure north of Orchid beach to Sandy Cape. Can you comment based on your recent trip/s there?
Thanks

sure,
The beach from Dilli Village to Hook Point is still open, but it WILL be closed at some point in the future, last I heard, that would happen after the high tide access road (the old mining road) had been upgraded.

I have not heard of a beach closure between Orchid Beach and Sandy Cape, the beach from Sandy Cape around into Platypus Bay has been closed as has a small beach between Orchid Beach and Champagne Pools.

Hope that this helps.

Its always for fun. Isn't it? Or do you have other reason for visiting so often?

Unfortunately in July the NSW and QLD hols cooincide so we'll be gone before you get there.

BTW, I know the tailor season kicks-off in August/September - that's what I used to go up for - but what's around in early July?Life just ain't that serious.

Rohan,

The beach from Hook Pt is still open as it the beach up and around Sandy Cape down the west coast to the lighthouse where there is a sign and a rope across the beach stopping traffic from further exploration southwards. We had some bad trouble at the Cathedral beach resort and wouldnt venture back there EVER, but its a nice place to drive past.

Fraser is beautiful, hope you have a great time, we did.

All the bestSo many places to go!

Bonz, what happened at Cathedral??

I've heard many bad stories but have only experienced good ones.

It's up for sale at the moment I believe!

Well I hope the next ppl that buy it are kind and nice and treat the ppl who stay there as guests, with a bit of friendliness. Guess that answers your questions.

We felt like we were "tolerated" at best. Didn't get anything like a friendly welcome and were treated like naughty kids. Made for a bad experience and we ended up bying everything elsewhere and making sure we dont stay there again whilst the current management is there

email me at ganrd@datafast.net.au if you want the rest of the bad news.So many places to go!

Oh, OK. Been there, suffered that (elsewhere) and had same reaction - won't be going back. Sorry to hear your Fraser experience wasn't as good as it could have been.Life just ain't that serious.

Yep, that would be the same story told by many.

ol' Dawn used to have a great name amongst island regulars, seriously though, it is still a great spot and has heaps of potential. I did hear a story that one of the Island's BIG companies was looking into it.

That can only be good.
