Hi
Have just bought a new 6120 and wish to get the names and numbers (aprox 500 of them) from the old phone(cdma) 6225 to the new. I use to do this via the infa red, it still took a few hours but not the days it would take to type them.
I can't seem to see an infa red on the new phone, is there one?
Thanks for your help.
Regards Lyndon

No Infrared on the 6120 Lyndon.

The "easiest" way is to obtain a data cable for the 6225 and transfer the data to a computer using Nokia's free PC Suite application. Then you can upload to the 6120 via bluetooth.

Another option Lyndon.

If you have a PC with Infrared capability you may be able to set up a communications path to the PC, again using PC Suite to do the transfer, then Bluetooth to go the other way to the 6120.

Nokia PC Suite is a free download from the Nokia site and is very good. I keep the calendar updated with Outlook on the PC. (You can also synchronise other data - tasks, contacts, to do list, etc.)

I wonder if you can "Text Phonebook" to the new phone?

You can buy a little device that enables you to copy from one sim to another with a press of a button in one go. Works a treat

That normally works great, but the Nokia 6225 doesn't have a SIM - all stored in internal memory.

Cheers

Do you know of an antenna 'kit' that will plug directly into the 6120- ie. not via a car kit??

But why would you want this sort of solution?

It is ilegal to use the phone whilst driving in the vehicle without a car kit. And you need to keep the phone charged on long trips.
So, the car kit is the best solution.

I have just got new phone from Telstra and little book says
" selected Telstre Shop's and deaalers can transfer your contacts for you using our Mobile Data Transfer Device, which copies your contacts from your CDMA handset yo your nextG mobile.

They will probably stuff it up, but worth a go.

Just finished putting mine in byhand seems a good little phone . had full coverage on highway home where GSM would drop out.
My CDMA was great so I will wait and see.

Des,

Hmm, I suggest they were referring to a phone to phone transfer and even that is not entirely correct.

It is certainly possible via a PC. You can "backup" all your contacts, etc. to the PC via PC Suite. If the phone doesn't have bluetooth then a data cable is generally the solution. Then you can upload from the PC to another phone.

In fact you can connect two or more phones concurrently even one via a data cable and one via bluetooth, then simply cut and paste with windows explorer.

I have done this with the 6120 and a GSM phone (6021) both connected at the same time via bluetooth.

Des,

The Nokia 2280 manual (accessed via Nokia web site) refers to a DKU-5 USB cable to enable a serial connection to a PC, then using PC Suite for data transfer.

I don't know of any Nokia phone that can't be connected to a PC, one way or the other.
