Poor recovery technique

Surely I didn't just see a snatch strap or winch extension strap being looped over a towbar to shift something on a certain free-to-air TV travel show? Not a good example even if it wasn't being used to recover a vehicle...

Yes,
I was gobsmacked myself.
When you consider the net was buried in all that sand there would have been considerable force required to pull it out.
Maybe one saving grace is that there was nothing behind the vehicle to "intercept" a flying broken tow ball except a few ignorant people.

Yup - noticed that too.
But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't a snatch strap, and as they were just 'pulling' the net I'd reckon the tow ball may have been OK in that circumstance..
