They have pit the Aurion / Kluger motor in a Rav4 model -
0-100 7.4secs
Top speed > 200K
!!!!!!!!
How fast were the super cars of the 70's ? eg GTHO Phase 111 and Chargers and Hot Toranas?
This sounds just as dangerous in
young hands.

200kph in a Rav4!!!! Have you ever driven at 200kph?
You'd need to be out of your mind to do 200kph in a Rav4.

Our various Rav4's have been considerably more stable at high speed than my Patrol which tops out at 200kph.

Anyone who drives a Patrol, Rav4 or any other "box" 4WD at 200kph needs their head examined.
And I'm a fast driver - but only in the right vehicle in the right conditions.

How bout a porsche cayenne turbo 0-100 in 5 secs 275kph flat maggot and you don`t look like poof hairdresser driving one.
But at $207,000 you may need to sell you butt on the street to pay for it.

Hi Mike
You should look at the RAV from an engineering point of view , it has an inherent stability that might surprise you.
Don't get caught with the box shape as being not stable. Box shape means it has a high co-eff of drag but that relates more to the fuel use and energy to drive it. In fact a shape with higher rear drag can be self-correcting an quite stable.
In addition the RAV is one of few cars with a genuine geared const 4wd and 4 wheel independant
suspension as opposed to the vast majority of on-demand systems.
While it not in the class of the Cayenne I tested here earlier this year its a surprizingly effective package.
(not talking current release - haven't driven it just yet)

Now you will be in trouble big time from all these Nissan / Disco Camel jockeys.
When I started a thread "Killer What's" boy did that get them sand blasters mad.
They didn't want to know about the 201kw Rav V6, that is 1klm to 1kw, boy how does Toyota do it.
They stick it to them other mobs in a mean way.
Poor old Kev and the boys nearly had heart failure, so don't make this thread to hot for the likes of Kev.
I hope they bring them out in Black that way the police won't see you in the dark, they will think that there is something wrong with the radar gun.
All the police will see is these the whites of your eyes and these two rows of your pearly whites going past.

Think of this,
Policeman: this mobile 3 to VKR
VKR: yes mobile 3
Policeman: there is a Black Rav doing 200klm an hour.
VKR: What have you been Smokin out there Smokey.

96 GXL 80 series ,
I'm not here to antagonise you but you seem to have a oddball sense of humour and a strange writing style to suit.
Your previous post was titled "200 Killer Whats", it sounds wierd, looks wierd. Just wondering why you would title your post this way? It sounds arrogant in a "I can't place it" type of way.
If you want to play with words further, you could say "200 killer watts". Even though thats less power than a home PC uses, it now refers to electricity.
You could just call it a 200000 watt shopping trolley. I like that.
Cheers

WDR,
just as a
point of interest, way back when I was much younger and definately b.......y silly I owned a Mazda RX2 4 door
sedan. 130hp repeat 130 hp at the flywheel but god it was fast. I saw 7400 rpm on the tacho on the
New England H'way just south of
Tamworth early 1 morning. That equated to 137mph (and the speedo was correct according to a dyno) That speed makes the RAV a tad slow I reckon - 220kph and still climbing. Was way too fast for me and these days when I wanna go that fast I want to have wings outside the bodywork. Mind you I have sat in the front
seat of a Mirage jet fighter dual trainer at Williamtown way back then also and seen 1.5 mach on the asi - now thats quick wooooohooooo
Cheers

I read somewhere that Toyota have instructed dealers that they cannot sell any of the new rav's because of some mystery ailment that causes engine failure, which is the same engine in the Aurion, apparently they like being asked to deliver 200KW too often.
Toyota didn't say what the issue was but it was NOT safety related.

Sorry Truckster, you put up thread 51070, and that where I read it!
There was also a small article in the paper about the rav's but didn't say sqaut about any problems, just that they weren't for sale, yet.
