I am new member,
I use oziexplorer in my IPAQ for moving map with gps attached.
.
On a long trip I go through up to 100 maps, and find difficulty in listing all the maps needed to copy them onto the storage card in IPAQ. It can take 4 or 5 nights, poring over index maps with pencil making lists then finding each one to copy individually.
I want something that I can on maybe the index map, highlight the area to which I am going and have all the maps collected together for copying to storage card

I don't know of any tool that will do what you ask (but am interested to see if anybody else does).
I found it easier simply to put in a bigger card (8Gb CF card), and put all my maps on it. Never need to worry then.
Just a thought.

Hi Alex, what I do when planning trips is, I load the beginning map from my main index (Natmap series) into OziExplorer on my PC, then set-up a sub-directory in the Ozi Map Directory under an appropriate name for the trip you are planning. Into that directory I now save the loaded map & from info displayed on that map get the next map that joins it. Then, in numerical order load & save each associated map for that trip. That way I can just go to that directory in the future to download those maps into my moving map system in the vehicle.
Over the years I have set up trips to many
places & the 'Trip Map Directories' are now quite large. Trip planning can take quite a bit of time, but if you keep a record of it you can use it to plan other trips where part of a previous one may be included in another one which takes in some of that route.
If you are using the Natmap 1:250,000 series you can bring up the main index image of maps of Australia which will show the map name & index number for the area you are travelling in. Hope this explanation is not too confusing. Cheers.

assuming you are using raster 250k and they cover 150Kms across,
thats 15000 per trip.
seriously, the maps could all fit on the correct size storage card.
if these are not available, what about putting them on different cards in state (ie w.a. vic n.s.w.) order?
no more poring, just change the card at the border.

If using Natmaps, on the DVD there are zone maps. These easily fit on SD cards and give a north south slice across the country. There are about 6 from memory and each one is just under a meg.
I have used these using several cards marked with the zone on them and before I go I note about where i will have to change SD cards.
There is very little changing if travel is north south and even if going east west it takes a fair bit of time to travel across a zone before having the change maps.
These mosiac zone maps are lot more friendly than coping with single maps.

If you convert the zone files using the IMG2OZF conversion utility, all the zone files will fit on one CF card.
Oziexplorer running on my PDA changes automatically and seamlessly from one zone to the other as you travel across the zone
boundary. Never have to load another zone map.
