Well, Cricket was cancelled caus of the rain today so after a few drinks at the club I have spent the arvo thinking about somewhere to go for a day trip soon. Any suggestions for a day out in the 4WD? We live in the Adelaide Hills, 30 mins to Murray Bridge, Mannum, Adelaide and Gawler. Happy to travel an hour or so to get there. I know there's not much around but some interesting treks would be the G.O.

Ta.

Whats at Morgan? I worked around Morgan back in the early 90's doing survey work for the SA Gov. Can't remember much about the area except sheep stations and lots of flat land. Oh, and the river.

Louie, The old Morgan rubbish dump area has heaps of tracks around it, some steep, others narrow, all can be good fun.
The SA 4WDAssociation are taking over the lease of the area as the local council are worried about their liability should anyone become injured etc. Might be a little while yet so you might have to get in quick.
Entrance is by the old toilet block past the caravan park.

Wait for the rain to stop and you can watch the paint dry on the cricket game then.

Have a look at Saunders Gorge near Mannum. I haven't been there but I'm told it's quite good. It's private property so it will cost you.

We drive past there ( the turn off anyway) on our way to our holiday shack on the river. Never been in but last night I looked at a clip on the web (7's Discovery show). It looks alright, but I could do it in my Adventra. I can drive on those kind of roads 5 minutes from where I live, and for free.

I know there's not much around Adelaide. Might need to make friends with someone with a property in Harrogate or Rockleigh or somewhere like that. 15 minutes from home theres lots of rugged 4WD country butt its all private land. & I dont know any of them.

SHMBO wont let me go to Maslins. Don't know why; whats there?

We used to go there years ago. Friend of my dad had a sand pit there. Dad used to help him load sand with a front end loader to sell in his sand yard. Spent lots of time playing in the sandhills and on the beach. That was before, well, you know what.
