Chris,

Have not been to Knorrit Flat in a dogs age.

Use to do a bit of canoeing there and it was a pig farm back in those days.

Could not say what it is like now.

Its an idyllic camping spot on the river bank. Can get a bit busy in school holidays or long weekends. No powered sites but the owners provide wood for the fireplaces which are plentiful. There is a shower block with hot showers. Our club goes there Oct long weekend.

My apologies to Chris for my off topic question to Terry ..

Terry, in regard to the picture in your profile of your broken camper at Hamilton Station.

Is it a jayco dove outback and what broke? I would love to know a bit more on the recovery ... it looks like a bit of local help with loading onto the tray.

I've have one ('03 model) & am heading through that way late Nov'07.

cheers Anthony

Hi Anthony
It was a 2000 Eagle Outback. I'll send you a member message with the full story - dont want to hijack another post.

Chris,

Nice quiet county place with riverbank right next to the camping area. I can recommend it for a couple of days at least. There are some interesting 4WD tracks locally also.

Yes Wayne - some good tracks in state forests - though some a little overgrown.

Relaxing spot for a few days. Mark and Mary the owners are lovely people who have put a lot of work into the place since they took over.

Delete all references to "pig farm". Small amenities block - flush toilets and hot showers, barbecue/fire places with wood supplied. Beautifully grassed camping area.
River frontage giving access to canoeing, bass fishing together with a few catfish, fresh water herring and mullet.

It might pay to ring ahead and book. Christine and I drove up from Sydney one weekend with no advance notice only to find the whole joint was booked out for the weekend for a wedding and reception. Mary was most apologetic about having to turn us away.

A good base for scenic drives around the nearby localities.
