Bill before last I had 1 use of the Internet.
Now like alot of people here there is no way Im surfing the net on my phone in case I get a massive bill.
it wasnt much - a couple of seconds for 50c so I ignored it.
next bill there were 3 uses for $1.50
yea not much but i could see an escalating trend.
I rang them and have had the amount taken off and the phone internet disabled.
Its a flip phone so little chance of accidental dialling

a mate of
mine complained yesterday, he got wifi TLS net and gave it to his daughters laptop. He goes away and comes back 2 weeks later to a 3k bill. TLS said they would nto make him pay. I know this is not phone net but it shows that net access with fancy new technology can run up bills.

We got caught with my wifes phone. Silly thing was that the button was to easy to press, so accidental connection was a common occurance. Had to get telstra to disconnect it also. Pretty cheeky of them IMO

I think it's a bit of a scam.
When I took out a 2 year contract for Next-G, I was advised I had one month's free Internet access.
Well after 3 days I received a text message saying I had used 30% of the monthly quota.
Another few days and another text message advising I had now used 60%.
So I deliberately disabled/removed the Internet access from the default buttons so I couldn't accidentally activate them.
A couple of weeks later I received an invoice for the next months usage, including the $8.00 or so of the next month's Internet access.
I promptly when to the Telstra
shop and canceled the Internet access and was warned by the salesperson to be careful as further access to the Internet would incur an increased cost.
I have studied subsequent bills to ensure I'm not being charged for something I don't use and don't require.
The Next-G phone is for making and receiving telephone calls and SMS messaging and that's it.
I have a perfectly good and much more practical Laptop to employ, if I wish to access Internet facilities.
The phone is just that.....a phone.
