Evening all,
As a followup to the thread mentioned above, I have been doing a bit of research on the Kunderang West property. If you want to have a look at thread 35461, IanW (NSW) posted a great bit of info re the place. I have today spoken with a couple of folks who have been in there very recently and their comments are "Wonderful place- when can we go back etc"
I spoke with the owner last night and asked about access for CT's and caravans - CT and off road vans to 18' are OK other vans to 16'. You have to understand that the drive in is rather steep - I have never been in there but apparently the last few K's drop about 1000' - perhaps not for the feint hearted.
I expect to receive the info package tomorrow so post more then.
Cheers

ROFL
Now come on Kev,
We can do the Cordillo thing and still get back to Kunderang West in plenty of time - and if we don't tell anyone we should have some liquid assets left from that desert trip hehehe
Cheers

We will just have to watch JD as I hear he likes imported refreshments (we will have to forgive him though he does live in SA) hehe

John T,
I have been to West Kunderang and am suprised that the owner would say that non
off road caravans up to 16' are Ok. I definitely agree with CT and off road vans (up to 16') but definitely not any other type of van.
The road in (Raspberry Trail) is about 38K from the Armidale Rd and is OK with caution, but the last 8k or so is very narrow, steep and very bumpy.
When we went we had a CT and on the way out it took us 1/2 hr to climb the 8k out of the valley that West Kunderang sits in, so I dont know how a non off road caravan would go.
It is definitely a great place and worth the effort, but my advise to anyone with a caravan is to think twice if its NOT off road.
Cheers,
Cruiser

G'day Cruiser
I'll talk at length with Cindy and Max before even thinking about doing the drive in. If I do plan the gathering for EO I'll certainly be warning anyone coming that the weather can be hot and the road is a bit on the rough and winding sort.
Cheers

Hi JohnT
West Kunderang is a very nice place to visit but it can be very hot in summer. Negotiating the road in with a caravan should not be to difficult when dry. Driving out in the wet with a caravan can be tricky. My main concern the planned route you will be taking to the Raspberry road turn off. If you are coming from Kempsey be very careful as the road is narrow in
places and there are many blind corners to negotiate. Best direction to come from is Armidale and then turn left after the
Chandler River Bridge.

G'day Zodarp
I'll be coming from
Tamworth so no big deal there. I know the Kemsey Road so will be OK.
Cheers
