Buying a Landcruiser Bushcamper 4WD campervan soon.
Was wondering about small air conditioning units for a small campervan, to cool the campervan when parked and without the engine running.
Do units like these work
well?...

Just wondering if these, or any other minimal sized air conditioning units, work
well with a small campervan.
I would probably install a solar electric system to provide power for the air conditioner (and fridge, stereo, lights, etc.), to allow it to operate without draining the car batteries.
Thanks,
Simon

Does it need 240 volts? I envisage if it is a refrigerated air conditioner, and if it can run on 12 volt it would use up power fast. Our present caravan has a standard caravan air con, and we take a generator so we can use it on the occasional very hot afternoon. Works like magic cooling the caravan very quickly, but needs the Honda 2kva or mains power.

get some professional advice as to cooling capacity requirements for you camper, before you part with your $$$
Note that the picture has two installed on the van suggesting that the rating of each unit is very small....the model no of a aircon usually tells something about its capacity... so does the "1000" in the waeco no tell us that its around 1000 watts capacity?....

Yes, I will try to get some advice from someone (any ideas who?) that installs these sort of air conditioners. Might have to contact the Waeco distributor and ask who sells and installs them near me (or in
Sydney).
I also assume that the 1000 means 1000 watts.
The Landcruiser Bushcamper is a very small campervan, really a Landcruiser Troop Carrier with a higher roof, so I don't think I need a very large unit, as I don't think you could get a much smaller campervan internally than the Bushcamper. And I want to keep the power requirements for it as low as possible for possible battery/
solar power operation.
Thanks,

Hi Simon,
Guess you will be purchasing something like ours.
We haven't considered air conditioning as there is usually good air circulation/ventilation. We choose a suitable spot for our stops.
When travelling the LC unit is pretty effective.
Have fun.
Joan.
