Can anyone recommend someone in Sydney (or Canberra) that can do a good job of advising on and installing a solar electric system into a Landcruiser Bushcamper 4WD campervan?

I'd like someone that will do a great job, both of specifying what is needed in the system and of the installation itself, and someone that has a large range of options to choose from.

I'd like the solar electric system to recharge the car batteries, as well as providing power for the fridge, stereo system, and possibly roof mounted air conditioning unit, for extended periods of time when not being powered by mains or by driving the campervan.

Thanks,
Simon
Canberra.

Don't mountthe solar on the roof!! makes it really hard to keep the camper and frig cool when it has to be parked in the sun to charge the batteries.

In a Bushcamper I would recommend fitting at least one or some Solar panel/s to the roof.
Reason being, you will have Solar power available at all times (during the day) charging the AGM Deep Cycle battery system (that you will use) while you are parked ANYWHERE, including at the supermarket, in the street, at work or home, etc etc.

You can use a 'suitcase' solar system as an add-on if the original system is 'smallish' or low on performance, however, this can be added easily at a later date or the entire system organised to be done at the same time to save hassles.

The quality and performance characteristics of the Solar PANEL and the Solar REGULATOR is more important than the actual installation, as the installation mistakes can easily be fixed, the correct choice of panel or regulator is for the life of the product.

Any compromise on quality is also a compromise on performance.

Remember, the numbers you will be looking at are in Watts and Amps, these numbers are the absolute MAXIMUM available from the panel, and NOT what is realistically available each day.

You will be asked "how many Amps do you need to be replaced daily" you should have the answers available when you talk with the supplier of the equipment.

Ask supplier about an Inverter suitable for the Air-con unit and before you make a final decision if choice is not based only on $$ ask to see some of their work, in their workshop.
