Just got back from the VHC.

This is my first trip down there since the fires.

Craig's hut is being rebuilt and is due to be finished by Christmas.

Official opening is Jan 26th 2008

I will add some more photos later when I can sort them out from what it was like before and what it is like now.

I guess that stand of snow gums on the western side of the hut are gone, are they Wayne?

Thanks for the update.

Did you do the King Valley - what's it like there?

Most of the area around the hut is unburnt. The stand of gums near the track that lead up to Mt Stirling and the Monument Track are unburnt.

A spark lodged under the roof and that is how the hut was burnt.

King Valley, I would assume you mean around King River/ Hut area. All that is still good along the King River.

I will dig out some photos when I get home this afternoon.

Hi All.
I would very much like to explore the VHC. Can you suggest where I can research what to visit, and also recommend the must see places?

Cheers
Ed

Thats great news Wayne,
Boldjack, me and a few others are off that way in January, and Michelle is very exited about your news mate, she just rang me and was just about to wet herself screeming "Wayne's put up pics of the hut rebuild and that it will be ready for Xmas"

Those BLOO*Y "submit" and "spell check" buttons are too close to each other for my dainty fingers.

David can you fix that please mate!!!!

Great to hear the surrounding trees are fine, that makes the rebuild a little more natural to photograph etc.
It all sounds wonderful and makes me look forward to our trip even more.

Thanks mate. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip down there.

Is there anything you recommend to look out for on that trip
Colin.
