Afternoon all,

I have just posted a trip/gathering for the West Kunderang area. Trevor R (Qld), Duncs and Qld Kev asked me to keep them informed so this post does that.
Anyone interested in coming along for this weekend - maybe a long weekend (as I have asked for a camping site that can cope with 30 campers I'm told from Friday 18th January to Monday 21st January) Costs are $17.50 per night per vehicle and a $25.00 refundable bond for the key to the locked access gate (I'll pay that 1 if others have no objection) Attendee's are required to call at the owners property prior to driving into the site to complete a registration form and pay fees. Lots of other stuff that members and of course non members will need to know but those who decide will be sure to contact me anyway.
Anyone wishing to fish must hold a current Fishing Licence or be exempt from holding one i.e. a pension concession card issed by Centrelink
My mobile number is 0419 438085. After hours is best as I may well be out of coverage range so after 6pm most nights will find me.

Ian W (NSW) posted a report back in 2006 (hope you don't mind me supplying details of that post Ian) post no 35461 gives forum users an idea of what to expect. The post also gives contact details for Cindy McRae - the operator of the place

John,

I thought that with your presence that a fishing licence wouldn't be needed LOL

I'll be comming with "Bells On" :))

I didn't see you in Tamworth Today, I was there about 10:30 till around 12:00

Cheers Kev

Hi John,

I'll keep my eye on these dates and would love to come but I still don't know what's hapenning with work at that time. Sounds like it would need to be a "camping trip" as the van may be asking too much on the way out??? Have you been in there yet? and if so what did you think? Remember I have the crawler gear and low 3rd in mine is like low 1st in a standard Patrol. If it is tight, slippery as well as steep I may be better off leaving the van at home but if it is just steep then that may be OK????

Hope I can join you all. Anyone with kids going and what ages? I have 2, an almost 5yo at that stage and a 6mth old.

Best regards,
Trevor.

Evening Trevor,

No mate I have been into West Kunderang but I have known Cindy and Max for quite a few years and believe what they have been telling me.

The info pack that Cindy sent me advises that off road vans and CT's to 18' are OK and on road vans to 16' are also OK. The last 4k's in and out is a steep cutting with sharp corners and deep dish drains.

The camp site we have booked is called "Sliprails" I think. Unfortunately "Cedars" is already booked by another group, so I understand. But hey it's a big place and I'm sure we will really enjoy the place.

Cheers

"Sliprails" is a great shady site on the end of the camp grounds......a little more difficult to access the river as it sits above the river......but the pick of wide open grassy sites.....mmmm i'am on holiday's then mmmmmm........

Cheers
