Just noticed these gadgets in the local rag. 1,000kg for $69, 2,000kg for $89.

Has anybody used such a gizmo? Any good? Anything's better than farting around with a jack handle etc.

Shane,

I'd love to but it is only a very small pic on the back page of our local rag (no web address). However, just Googled what is probably very similar if not exactly the same

Here

I am sure they had a recall on them at Super Cheap not long back.

I think they had the wrong rating on them.

You lot are a bunch of 'pansies'

Be real men and connect it up to 24V and watch the sucker go/perform.

You'll be the fastest tyre changer in your street gramps.

Save so much time, you will be able to 'sink' a a six pack and then test yourself on the breath-a-lyser that the RACV advertise alongside of it.

Definitely a winner for all concerned

Hi Bill,

Something I had'nt thought of. I can see where they'd be very useful in that scenario.

I'll check them out and see if they'd be OK for the Hilux (GVM 2730kg). Probably 'Made in China' with no Aus standards though.

Thanks for that.

Well bugger me!

I thought I was a bit on the lazy side but the 12 volt jack would take some beating. Wonder how you keep the sand out of the motor?

Methinks a hydraulic bottle jack would be just as effortless, bearing in mind you still need to slap the deck to get the jack underneath anyway.

No prize for that one!

OI !!!! Stop picking on the nearly demented :)))

Already have the bottle jack.

Playing in the sand !!!! Yuk !!! Let's be a little more refined shall we. All the hairy chested he-men on this site may like rolling around in the dirt but I'll pass if possible. Unless there's a suitably nubile young vixen to cavort with hahahaha

Sand Man,

Sometimes I think we all get a bit too serious on here. It's good to have a chuckle.

This might be a good gizmo to have at a Gathering when all the gadget gurus (who shall remain nameless) roll up.

Maybe 4by makers should look at the system I first saw on a Citroen (I think) where, at the push of a button inside the cab) the wheel would lift up and tilt. NO need for a jack at all hahahaha

Al,

Citroens always needed to pee.

One we hired in France didn't allow you to take the keys out of the fuel cap until you had one, and you got peed off with it.

Now if you got 3 of them for a c/t and mounted them permanently instead of the stabilizers at the rear and 1 at the jocky wheel area ,how good would that be for leveling on uneven ground ?? blo-dy brilliant !!

Axel,

You and Bill F are dangerous people with your innovative ideas. It was'nt that long ago you'd be accused of witchcraft and toasted (as in decidedly burnt toast). In fact, some on here would actually consider it, even now :))))

I stopped off at a Rest area just on the North side of the Yule River on the North West Coastal Hwy, 50Ks South of Pt Hedland about Feb' this year , had to dump a couple bottles so walked over to the Bin and I seen this Gadget dumped in the bin, Didn't know what the hell it was , I could see it had wiring attached so I hauled it out for an inspection , It was then I could see it looked like the old scissor type jack with a little motor on it , I thought the concept was a great idea but it had Made In China sticker on it, No wonder it was in a bin , But hell mate don't let my post stop you from wasting $69 , ....

Have seen a few people who have the diamond/screw type jack and just whack a cordless drill on it. Quick and easy.

Has to be a fairly beefy cordless I suppose but one bloke I saw had the whole job done quick as a wink. Just a matter of having the right driver attachement for the drill to fit the screw of the jack. Maybe a fairly fine thread on the jack helps too by reducing the speed/lift ratio a bit.

Sounds like maybe time to experiment in the garage a bit.

Another brilliant suggestion. I've got a few old drills in the shed to test with.

Thanks for that.

And, to further the thread ....

Why not utilise one also as a ready made BEAD-BREAKER , at a fraction of the cost, as well as the other suggested usages ???

Find a space in your little truck for a Trolley Jack with 1800kg capacity lift. Should spend around $50-$70 dollars. It works for me!

Al, a man of your wealth in super could probably look to an air ram in every corner, just like the Bathurst cars. With Endless Air from Lucy it could lift the car before you got out.

Much better than those powered scissors

JohnR,

"wealth in super" - I wish !!! As for the air rams and Endless Air from Lucy, I could just turn it into a hovercraft and not worry about tyres, suspension mods, articulation etc etc etc. No need to worry about rain affected tracks either hahahahahaha

G'day to ya Al,unless you wan't touse it for something other than lifting your wheel then buy it,if not don't bother. I bought one (1000) flat out lifting one wheel on the Zuk,could not budge the dulls on the m/home.
P.s how have you been?.
Cheers Bob.

P.p.s,the brand of my jack ic Shentai.

Thanks for the firsthand info. I thought there'd have to be at least one person on this site that had some experience with them. Seems like their ratings are rather optimistic :)))

I've been fine mate. How about yourself?
