Can TT be set up with off road maps also a lap top for better views if so where can the maps be obtained.

Put simply, NO!

Runs it's own (proprietary) operating system so you can't load something like OziExplorer.

The only maps you can add are those provided by TomTom.

Having said that, I have used mine when travelling in the country (York Peninsula) and it shows good detail.

I don't think it would be much use in the Outback though.

Ah...that 'place'....'the outback'. Where does it actually start? Need to know so I can switch my Garmin Quest Navigator off. Wouldn't want to 'get bushed'.

Alternatively, you can use a PDA and install Oziexplorer and use your other maps on it. Mine came with TomTom pre loaded.
I have a 4GB card with most of my maps on it and it works well.
