The Tanami Track Feedback

Yuendemu has an Aboriginal art centre that is a must stop on the Tanami track. In Yuendemu ask for the Warlukurlangu Artists centre. Lots of paintings, excellent quality and good prices (they are closed 15 December to 15 January). See their website http://www.warlu.com.

Have you been beyond Yuendemu to Mt. Doreen recently, as I lived there as a child in the early 1950's. My Mum and Dad worked the station way back then. I want to plan a return trip, even though I know only the abandoned ruins, which I will always remember, remain.

Fred,
Yes, we went on to Halls Creek in June this year. We didn't see anything of Mount Doreen from the main road and I imagine it is just ruins (the Mount Doreen 1:250,000 topo sheet marks it as ruins). If you are interested the NT part of the Tanami track was excellent when we went through. The WA part could be charitably described as very ordinary!
