Hi Ozboc.

Here's a start. These were taken at the Telegherry campground in south Barringtons - Chichester SF specifically.

The photo on the other forum , "The waterhole, Chichester River"

Is there a long walk to this river or can you camp right next to it?

some fantastic photos BTW - just showed the misses , and her immediate reply was ... wow we have to go there !!!

In your opinion - would this be a good spot for us ( 4 kids 2 adults- kids 4 4 6 8 ) We have Nissan Patrol 4.2 TDI and a Jayco flamingo poptop (OFFROAD) 1200 kg

we are totally self sufficient -- own portable toilet - LARGE rubbish bag that attaches to the back on the 4x4( over the spare wheel) so we only leave tyre and foot prints ...... even encourage the kids to clean up OTHER peoples mess before we leave a camp site ( i adopt the - leave it cleaner than i found it attitude)

just trying to have this trip well planned in advanced ....

I've camped at Riverwood Downs in the B' Tops. Good site with amenities, have fires, lots of space, etc. Don't have any photos though.

These requests and 'feedback"posts are all in pursuit of more points for the silly competition I presume.
Don't respond as you are assisting someone to put in a report on something or place they might not have even been to!

No - I think ozboc is getting info for his own personal use and will be using pics and waypoints in Oziexplorer (based on one of his previous posts)

Cheers

No , i am actually planning a trip up to barrington tops in a few weeks with the family -- as the place is so large and have been given MANY recomendations on where to go , i just cant decide based on peoples suggestions , hence the reason i asked for photos - after all a picture tells a 1000 words right ? Asking for the GPs co-ordinates helps me to negotiate a path to the final camp site which is easier to follow on a gps than to have to follow directions on a map when driving .... and lets face it , its kind of hard to go the wrong way with a gps

I am sure i will be going there more than once , but i would like the first time to be a good one so the family will hound me to go back , rather than moan and groan.......

thanks to all that have replied so far --- web pages added to my bookmark folder for camping :)

forgot to mention Traveller , i dont bother with any of the competitions of this site , nor do i have any interest.....

If i was to buy a Raffel ticket where there is only 2 people in the draw -- i would loose every time ..... hence the reason i dont bother.

But thank you for suggesting to everyone to not answer - Here is a photo of the kids at our last camping spot at Newnes, this is my motivation for the request and not as you have suggested.

Care to retract your comments now >?

Just head for Dungog, top up fuel and supplies, then head for Chichester Dam, signposted all the way from the main street. Just before the dam you will see a sign to the right welcoming you to the Chichester SF. Turn here onto the dirt forest road and follow the signs to one of three camping areas all with basic facilities, running water within 50m of the campsite and grass to camp on. Telegerry, Frying Pan or Coachwood camping areas all fill the bill.
Good swinmming holes at all three with heaps of water in the river as it hasn't stopped raining for months so plenty of runoff.
2wd access except after extended wet weather when the forest roads get a bit slippery in spots.

I too like quiet spots....but geez....with 4 kids , sounds like he's an outcast for having 4 kids !!

How old are your kids ?? Another nice spot is Ladies Well on the Allyn river..

Or Poleys Place near Gloucester

Go with Gronk's suggestion of Poley's Place. Right on the river, acres of room with lots of shady areas where you can find a quite spot. Very central for lots of day trips into the mountains. They used to have a sensational country music long weekend there once, don't know it still happens. Kids that age would love it there.
Great to see you introducing your kids to our wonderful outdoors.
Geez, Bigdog must have had some bad experiences.

Hi there , yeh 4 kids ( mixed family ) They certainly have tought me patients ( but i do sometime loose it also especially after working night shift 12 hours 6 pm til 6 am on my feet for 11 of those hours as a maintenance fitter)

As for dogs - nah don't have any - do have a 700 Litre fish tank with 10 adult discus and various Cichlids - but your cant really take them camping right ? :)

i am very fortunate that my partner LOVES the outdoors - so when i suggest camping every second weekend , her first reply is .. Hell yeh , where are we going this time!! Or suggests spots from the 4x4 driving and camping books we have.

My dad always took us away camping - was to caravan parks as he never had a 4x4 or the resources we now have , and i guess its in my blood to do the same thing, and for me - the week prior is spent on the lap top plotting coarses in ozieplorer ( 10 min here 10 min there )

As for noisy kids - yeh they are - hence the reason i try to look for "away" spots as to not annoy other people and there leisure time !

P.s if anyone is interested in Discus - have a look at my following link - have pics of my Female pidgeon guarding her eggs that she laid this week

Discus photos
