Hi Members,
I am having a slide-on camper built, I,m unsure of what fridge will suit best for remote outback desert conditions. Waeco or Vitrofrigo. 113 Ltr. Any suggestions?
regards Rev's

Never heard of "Vitrowhatsit".
Rather than argue the point on brand names, a compressor type fridge will give the most practical performance, but of course, needs to be backed up with an adequate battery system and a means of recharging them.
To give a more specific reply, we would need to know if you have any special requirements. A 113 ltr fridge is a big mother.

Get one thats quiet. (Often forgotten when you're sleeping on top or next to it).

Father in-laws new slide on has the 90lt Vitrofrigo , 12v , runs very quiet and very efficient ,,uses less power per 24hr period than my 80 lt waeco and had no problems on his last trip to Nth WA.

Gooday,
Had a Vitrifrigo in last caravan, now have a Waeco. Vitrifrigo was much quieter, required less current and has, I think a superior door catch system. If I had my way would go back to Vitrifrigo.
The Waeco does the job but!!!, thats my view.
Cheers,

something to consider -- Wacco - year warranty nation wide -- so you dont have to take back to where you bought it - very handy if your 2000 KM from POS

Hi Revs
I also find Vitrifrigo very quiet. It is only the by listening for an occasional gurgle of gas that we can tell if it's on or not. We have the 130 litre with 'remote compressor' - which allows more space without a motor bay taking room from the fridge. It has the Danfoss compressor, which is also used by some other brands.
We have not had a Waeco. We had an Engel upright in the previous camper - a really good fridge, but a bit noisy at night.

Thank you Motherhen,
The 130 ltr Vitrofrigo is the exact fridge I've decide on getting, great to hear some excellent feedback. Our
camping car fridge is an Engels and it has been a really excellent fridge that I would recommend. But now I'm after a fridge for the slide-on and it really needs to be quiet, as it is next to the bed.

Hi Revs
We purchased ours on line from Ian Robinson [mail@boatandcaravan.com.au]. He gave the best service and replied to my questions before and after purchase, 7 days a week and at all odd hours i was emailing. The new version has two screws securing the internal freezer box to the back, whereas the old one had only one, and when this severed on a very rough road with the weight of the overfilled freezer section, it snapped the gas pipe, killing the fridge - expensive mistake.
We chose the same type of fridge (remote compressor model) which is 12/24 volt, but we have added a converter so it can also run off 240 volt - we haven't tried the latter yet.
It cost us $1,796.80 including the converter and freight to us in rural WA.
