Does anyone have a new 76 Toyota Wagon, either GXL or Workmate, preferably the former, in the
Newcastle NSW area that I could have a look at? As most know they are as scarce as hen's teeth and none of the local dealers have any stock or are even getting in a customer's order before Feb or March next year.
Would appreciate it.

Sorry Mal I can't help you with one to look at but then there's not that much new to look at anyway. The dash and seats are unchanged from the ute & the rear half of the car looks to be off a 70 series Prado last built in the early 90's. Packing space is 100mm narrower and 130mm shorter than the 80 series so not that big a car particually for a family. Leg room in the rear is less too and the
seat really only comfortable for 2. (120 series Prado is far bigger all round)
Front
suspension is similar to the ute but the rear leaves are shorter by around 80mm (from memory) & of course have a different track width than the front.
We were fortunate to have one locally to look at back in April when released but as you say are difficult to source now.
Other than the engine you may find it a little dissapointing but then it may suit your needs.
Cheers Craig..............

We have one Mal but sorry we are in QLD. I have had quite a few people look it over since we picked it up. We ordered ours At
Easter and got it on the 1st October. Took it on a trip to
Sydney and
Canberra a week later. Towed our 21 ft Van like it wasn't there. I have to say we are stoked it drives great. Have since put an aftermarket sound system with amps and woofers in. Found the factory system just wasn't up to the job, the speakers were only plastic.

Doug
70 series refers to the range holistically, but Workmates can be the base model of 76, 78 or 79 series trucks. Look on the Toyota website.

Show me a photo of a 76 - 78 - 79 Workmate, I can't see one on the website, never seen one , they don't exist
the name Workmate only appeared when the new 70 series came on the market , 70 series workmate is a 4 door wagon with same dash as the 75/78/79 Trayback and Troopcarrier ,
You must have 2 ......

Doug this has been done quite a few times now.
If you look at the Toyota web site at the top of each page in red it identifies each model with its 76, 78 or 79 series model prefix.
Have a look at the 76 series Workmate here

There must be some one in NSW that has one, I am interested in looking at one too, none at the Dealers, 3 to 6 month wait.
Is there any one around
Sydney that I can check out ? I will even bring the beer so we can have a chat

Had a quick recheck of my post just in case. Still no luck. There were two demos for sale at Nowra, the GXL sold to someone from
Canberra just before Christmas. I believe they still have the Workmate for sale.
