I am rather confused regarding what second battery I should purchase.
I intend using a Piranaha DBE 150 s Kit with a Piranah battery tray, and plan to use a Waeco 40 lit frig. I am told the Prado bodywork is not strong enough to take a 12" battery and should use only a 10" battery. With this in mind what is the best battery to purchase. At most I would want the battery to power the frig for a couple of days.
Any help would be welcome.

Based on your stated requirements an 80AH deep cycle battery would be your best choice.

If you can afford it an AGM battery is the best type to buy.
If you are looking for a less costly battery a sealed deep cycle wet cell battery would suffice.

As far as an AGM battery is concerned I can recommend a Remco RM12 which costs $319 from Whitworth Marine.

For a cheaper wet cell deep cycle battery , something like a Supercharge brand is pretty good.

Whatever battery you choose, protect it with a low voltage discharge protector such as the Projecta ODP500. These cost around $30 and can be found at KMart and Repco stores.

Yes, the Waeco fridge has its own low voltage cutout, but there are 3 different settings and you need to determine if this fridge is the only thing you will plug into the circuit.

The ODP500 will cutout at 11.6 volts, or 30% remaining battery charge, which is as low as you would want to go without incurring permanent damage to your battery.

Hi Cabrolet

The MRV70 105 a/h battery is a standard N70 size and M/free.

They are what I recommend to customers fitting a battery to the 120 series. Note: See the yellow arrow, make sure there is clearance for the radiator expansion tube.

Regards

Derek.
