I am heading up to do the Caves to Caves trip (Jenolan to Wombeyan) again on the weekend, and have just read a post on another site. It is being claimed that..."the track to Limeburners Flat is now closed for every vhicle (only walkers allowed). Signs looked very new, but no gate". This was on the Sth approach to Limeburners on the Ranger FT/Limeburners Trail intersection.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Yerrnaderie advise about 50 new Parks signs up on the stock route and yes, no gate but "walkers only" signposted at both ends of Limeburners.

If there is no gate then I'm guessing the sign wont last long. Limeburners is a very popular destination.

OK, I have just hung up after speaking at length to the lady at Kanangra Boyd NPWS Office.

Limeburners is not closed to vehicles.

Sydney Catchment Authority actually have gone through and put up the signs everywhere, but it infact applies to the bushland on either side of the tracks. NPWS are not happy as they have been fielding calls for weeks now. The signs should have been angled so as to be more obvious that it is the bushland, not the track area.

So, nothing has changed, except as vehicles we are being asked by SCA not to enter the bushland except on formed tracks!

Thanks for your help guys!

As it should be, right! Tread lightly, sta on formed tracks. Had me worried for a bit there as I love that drive.

Note that limeburners flat is/was privately owned & was left in trust. as such should always have vehicle access under some government access law, met the relos of the original owner there once when they were putting the plaque in (southern side of the flat)
wish I could remember more about it now, was some years ago

LOL - ah, but, according to the lady today, it is about to become NPWS, and as such she was saying they are looking at how they are going to manage it atm. A few of the words I heard (and they stuck in my head!) were bollards, blocking off, closing for a period.......you get the message!!

The place is a crap hole and eyesore anyway, dropkicks driving 4WDs and riding motorbikes around the camping area have made sure of that.
