Hi,

Still looking for the right Camper to suit our needs. We went and looked at Cavalier today as they are local for us - which make things a lot easier!
From the look of them we were quite impressed. But, I would love feedback - pro's and cons- on anyone who has one.

Thanks guys,

Karicher

I have a Cameron but have looked at many cavalier. They have been around for a long time and their reputation is still strong. They make a good unit. Do an archive search, many people are happy with theirs.

In the end I decided on the cameron mainly because it had a bigger bed, mine is king size whereas cavalier seems a little smaller than queen.

Also worth a look is Sar Major (built in St Marys) the canvas on theirs is excellent, thick, tough and well made. But i have seen better trailers.

i have a 2001 cavalier off-road and cannot think of any which are much better in their price range.(around $9000 now)
my 4wd club members tried and hired many different types in this price range and many bought the cavalier.
'a' frame, axles & chassis are strong and well made, canvas is good quality.
on mine, the rear door seals could be better but they have improved them now.
you will notice that things like the jerry can holders are a bit agricultural, but they work perfectly.
try hiring a few and compare.
'local' - is that S.A. or W.A. ?
PS if you buy, get the slide-out kitchen fitted, you will never regret it!

Karicher,

I don't know what your needs are, or how much you want to spend but Willie from Epping in Sydney has a very nice looking Trak Shak for sale, advertised on this site.

I won't comment on the Cavalier because I don't know them well enough. I have owned a Trak Shak for over 11 years now and love it. It is quick to set up and pack up, has heaps of space with two queen size beds and twice as much enclosed area as most other campers.

Willie's has heaps of extras on it and seems a pretty good price. I don't know Willie other than from what he has posted on this site and I have nothing to gain from this post.

Hi Karicher,
have had a Cavalier for 8 years, (9ft deluxe, off road).Has not given any trouble, only maintainence costs has been tyres, bearings & lights. Slide out kitchen is worth having. Been on Gibb River rd...Central hwy....Plenty Hwy....Holland Track.
Tows well, have taken it on the beach, easy to set up & good value for money.
