g'day folks,

we were thinking, after finishing the CSR, to cut accross the Kimberleys to reach the Gibb River Road by using the Tablelands Road. In the roads conditions section of exploroz it says it is 'currently closed' and that one should contact the station for details. In the interactive feed back John McMillan writes in Aug 2005 (well that is 3 years back!): 'Told leaseholders cant deny people passing thru.'

Does anybody know how chances are that one can make it through from the Great Northern Hwy to the Gibb River Road beginning June this year?

Or does anybody know the contact details of any of these stations to ask for details?

thanks for hins ant tips - cheers - lukas

Did it back in 2001, no problems. Was a great drive, esp thru Teronis gorge and the Durack Range. Sorry to hear that it had been blocked.
I heard that it was shut due to damage to fences when some travellers got bogged, so just went around thru the fences.
I'd try ringing Bedford Downs and Tableland station to see what the current situation is. Worth a try, nothing to lose.

We were planning on driving this way last year but didn't end up doing so, however we had contacted two stations, Bedford Downs station 0891678829 and Tablelands homestead owned by Yulumbu aborginal corporation -either call Imintji 0891917699 or ring Indeginous coordination house in Derby 0891933133. Both advised no permits required and access is ok but requested we ring again just before departure to ensure no mustering etc would be going. As i say, we didn't end up gong that way and there is no guarantees the phone numbers are still correct but at least it gives you a starting point.
