Hi all, last night we went to the Wonga Drive in near Gympie in Queensland. We all had a good time, the first time any of the kids had been to a drive in. Even one of the adults in the group had never been to a drive in.
All the kids had a ball and enjoyed the experience so I say we will go again next school holidays.
So how many of you go to drive ins, are there many more drive ins left in Australia.

Here is the web site.

None that I know of down here. Used to go all the time when my wife and I were engaged, I watched and she slept. She always woke up at half time to send me out for the goodies at the shop. Then she'd go back to sleep until it was all over.
That was in the 70's, and things havent changed all that much. She still slips off to bed without saying goodnight :))

Hi Dave,
Two cars from the club, plus one other family.
Kids really enjoyed it so we will be doing it again.
It would be good to plan a club trip camping at Glastonberry Ck, bit of a tiring drive home afterwoods, see what happens next holidays.

Marty.

Yeah, that's a nice little campsite (although I haven't camped there since EPA took over).

Some excellent rock climbing just above it too!

Hi Marty,

I used to go to the drive in here in Adelaide quite often... They still have the speakers you hang on your window, or you can tune your radio into an FM station to get better sound.

Cheers, Brad

Only one left in Sydney now, at Blacktown and I think its only because they use it as a Sunday Car Boot Market thats kept it open.

Sydney had a heap in the 60/70s . There was Caringbah, Bass Hill, Blacktown, Park Lea, North Ryde, Dundas, one over the Mona Vale area. I'm sure there was at least another one which I can't remember, and all of in the Sydney Metro Area.

Ah yes! The good old drive in. Frantic scrabbling, frosted up windows and lot's of heavy panting.

You know it was only last week that my wife turned to me and said. "Why don't you ever make love to me the way you used to when we were young?"

"Oh alright!" says I. "Go out to the garage and get in the back of the car".

The doctor says the cast has to stay on for six weeks.

The one at Yatala south of Brisbane does a special night twice a year which is all classic and hot rod cars and really good fun. The website shows the dates but usually in March and September.

I often crack up laughing when I hear an add on the radio for one drive in. It says "......and if you don't like the movie, you can slash the seats". Gets me every time. Haven't been to one in years but used to go nearly every Sat night, not always for the great movies hehehehe.
