Just a little hint, after reading a post , instead of clicking the Return to Index button just tap the Backspace on the keyboard.

Thats a little old fashoned, the best way is to go through the main forum menu, select the thread you want to read and open it in a new tab, do this for all the threads you want and you will have say 4 tabs open, then just close the tabs as you go.

No it's not old fashioned, I fully understand the settings and how you have your's set up, I don't want my IE to work like that.
I use IE 7 and if you don't understand how it works with mutiple Tabs then you better learn .

Dunco and F4, I am with you. I have heaps of tabs open and not a sign of IE anywhere. Means I can press the F5 key to get an update of any page I wish, even manipulate my router.

Doug,
just a simple question,
how do you know you have a new email
if your not on the same page.

As I say a simple question, I would do it your way if I could get advice of new emails as they arrive, while working on other pages.

That's the real reason I have Messenger open, not (only) to chat to lovely ladies lol

Here on the Farum If you click on My Home / My Email and tick the box (Forum Responses via Email).
Then the notification comes to Outlook Express, I have a beeper Wav for the sound , if you would like a copy of that sound I could email it to you, I've had it for years ,better than the Windows sounds.

Doug,
I don't use outlook express...
but will if there is some advantage ?
yes, that's a question lol

I get my Emails sent to IE, with the links as you have posted, and with 'messenger' open I get to chat, work and play all at once :-))

"Mail's In"...

LOL....
Had it for years....... Now Doug... if YOU want it, I'd be happy to mail it to ya!!! LOL...

Top left corner of IE7 or Firefox window, there are two arrows, one back, one forward.

OK I had an idea you were going to say that, well mines blue, so if your going to move up there you might as well click the back to Index button.
Your as thick as Custard with a skin on it.

Who was it again who suggested the best way to go back is to
move the hand off the mouse to the back arrow key?

The same person who had to ask where the back arrow is on the browser?

Who's thick?

Is your hand super-glued to the mouse, I guarantee you I can move my hand to the backspace on the keybourd faster than you'll move up to the arrow.
Can I have some Custard....on steamed pudding, you can have the skin....yuk.

Both these methods are too strenuous for a lazy bugger like me:)
I have forward and back buttons on my mouse.
Too easy.

Open in new window works for me too.
just hit the red 'close' button when finished reading and your back at 'index' again..

Like others, I've often at least one other page open and also Messenger too, at the same time, suits me so I do it.
hope I don't get roused at :-)

Don't need to update the Forum index page often that way Mainey. Sounds too easy. Sounds like sucking eggs has a new granny though, Granny Doug.

had some with the bacon this morning lol

The "refresh" button or "F5" updates the index for new posts that I'm not involved in.
