Get DATASEND from Magellan Australia.
Email them.
The full CDROM is around $148 and you'll have 133000 Points of Interests. plus maps and all sorts of goodies.
I use this all the time for my 4WD trips.
On average each of my trip are around 12000 kms.

For places in SA try http://www.placenames.sa.gov.au
They give coordinates in GDA94, MGA94, AGD84 and AMG84.
