Hi guys,

Need your help identifying a 27meg aerial if you could, it's on my rig page. It's about 6ft high with a larger than normal thread, it broke on our last trip to Fraser and was discarded not thinking it would be hard to find but not knowing it's name is proving a real headache. I wouldn't worry about it as we rarely used it but my 27meg & UHF are one unit and it all plumbed up.
If it looks familiar to anyone drop me a reply.
Thanks & Cheers

Hi Ashley. Andrews Communications in Sydney are the only people that I know who produced a duel band cb antenna but I assumed that it had a standard 5/16 thread. As of December last year, they hadn't any stock & had no orders placed for more. A diplexer would also be required. I have recentlly made my own duel band antenna but am still in the testing stage. cheets Tony

Hi Tony,
Thanks for your reply, it is a Uniden unit which has dual aerial sockets one for AM and one for UHF. So the aerial I'm requesting info on is AM only. Cheers

Hi Ashley. If it is a 1/2 inch thread, then it should be relatively easy to pick up any 27mHZ CB whip to suit. Have you tried the likes of Telstat or Time Plus communications? Short of that, replace it with a heavy duty 5/16 base & use a standard 5 foot whip. You will need to check the tuning though.
We were at Mitchells from January 8th to 12th this year. The fire damage in the area is something to see. We exited by the slate mine and then Stony Creek tk. where there was a large burnt tree over the track which we had to winch out of the way. We first went into Mitchells in the early 1980s & have a picture of the last of the home stead from about 1982.
There is also a picture at the State Library Mitchells Homestead
Cheers, Tony

Gday Ashley. Try ZCG at Lindenow Vic. They make all types of antennae and might have something for you. Big bonus is AUSSIE made not an import. Website for catalogues below.
