Neighbour just dropped by and in talking about caravans, is it possible to swap a 100 series L/C hub on to an 80 series axle or vice versa ? We know a 100 series is 5 stud and 80 is 6 stud but are the axles the same- I'm pretty sure they are not.

Thanks blokes & ladies

Cheers Nick.

you have to ask why they would change something that works already but I have given up.

sorry, I was talking about the manufacturers. They keep changing things that are better left alone.

Nick what ya mate needs to look at what rim offset they are. Are they off narrow or wide chassis hundy? If they are off a narrow (deep lookng dish) they might work and he werent have to change the axle lengh if they are off a wide chassis (shallow looking dish) hundy they wont work the rims will rub on the chassis rails of the van then you wiil have put in a longer axle.

Hope it helps

If it is the axles on a caravan they should match. Best would be speak to a trailer place, there tend to be only a couple of bearing patterns and they stock different hubs (and hence stud patterns) to fit these standard axles.

The comment on offsets is a good one though.

I would expect it would be much cheaper to swap the hubs on the van to match the six stud pattern on the vehicle.

Sandman,

That's exactly what he wants to do, swap 100 series rims on the caravan to 80 series like his vehicle that tows it.
