Brother is interested in a 4WD TD Rodeo manual, 2 years old. I know nothing about them. I would be grateful for your experience/opinions as to both on and off road capabilities. Thanks in advance.

We are having a world of problems with electrical gremlins in our fleet at the moment. Ours are V6 petrol - both Isuzu and GMH powered (3.5l and 3.8 Ecotech)

I've one back 7 times, another 5 times and 2 newies back once each.

And for the record - yes they have the earth straps scraped, yes the keys have been swapped, yes the connectors have been pulled, yes they've been computer diagnosed each time, yes all fault codes have been addressed each and every time and none have gone over 30,000km's. I've had 2 die in less than a week of dealer delivery.

Guess what........just sent another back to the dealer this morning. That's now 6 returns for a vehicle with 4,073km's on the clock!

Not only do I cop the down time on a specialist vehicle (I can't just rent another to do the job), I lose 2 workers and one additional vehicle's time to get it down there, and the same to pick it up.

The Turbo Diesel Rodeo is a very solid performer Mark.

A dual cab TD Rodeo is on my short list when the time comes to upgrade the Jack.

I thought the same thing, and went out and drove one with the updated TD engine - it was almost a year ago. I thought it would be as tough as a mate's 1998 model, and as tough as my 1998 Jack.

Drive comfort OK in the burbs, but crossing railway lines I thought the dash was going to fall off - if you were to stick your finger between the centre console and the dash, it would get crushed, that's how much the dash wobbles.

Couldn't imagine going to Cape York in one, the corrugations would have it in pieces.

Jumped back in the Jack and I realised the build standard is no longer there in the newer Isuzus. Pity.

Well, what are us GM stalwarts going to do mate?
Hummer is good but too expensive.

Maybe I'll just have to keep the Jack.

We'll have to wait till the Hummer is kitted out with the V6 VM Motori diesel :)

It's the same one that's likely to go into all GM vehicles such as Commodore, Cadillac, etc, and it's a beauty. Right up there with the VW and Merc V6 diesels.

By keeping the Jacks till then, we'll be able to put aside the pennies required when the time comes.

My brother in law has one (turbo diesel) that's about 3 years old now he bought it new,it has done everything i have asked it to do off road .. Nothing to serious though.

But i did notice when we took it away about 3 weeks ago we were having trouble with the central locking system...

I personally have always bought Holdens but you'll never see my ass in one again as the owner. In my opinion things go wrong to quickly with them..

Cheers
