what should I pay 4 2nd hand 80% tread 15X32X11.5 AT's (something reas. like BF Goodridge) on rims like sunraysia 8 inchx15's. Have been looking on ebay 4 a set of 4 but not much around. Some idea would be better than none if anyone has sold any recently would like to know what the rate is.

Howsey,
Tried to buy a second hand carcass for a 2nd spare and in Sydney they wanted almost as much as a new tyre!!

Shopped around for a couple of months with no luck on a better deal.

So I bought a new one and when new tyres were needed put it on the car and kept the best of the litter for a 2nd spare.

Cheers

I tried to sell some 32x11.5x15 BFG AT's last month. I only had 3 to sell with no rims and they had 80% tread with no chipping or stakes. I asked $450 for the 3. Cost is $290 new so i thought it was a good buy. Ended up keeping them and putting them on the camper due to lack of interest. New 8 inch sunnies are only $65 each. I would think 4 80% on 15x8 rims would be a good buy at say $650-700???

I bought a pair of 275 x 70 x16 BFG A/T's with 12 mm tread for $180 a few weeks ago from that forum The two new ones were $300 each and have 13mm tread so good buy I thought.

My theory is that the first twenty percent is the best performance part of the tyre. Equal to fifty percent. They seem to wear a lot quicker after the diameter reduces. The first twenty is best at keeping the sharp things away too.

I bought a pair of good second hand treads once only to have the sidewall start cracking. Like having sex, you never know where it's been.

dont forget to measure the tread depth at a wear bar and not just anywhere in the tread
and from what i have noticed the first half of the tread wears a lot longer than the last half..ive thought about this and i reacon the full deapth tread can flex whereas when it gets down it just scrubs
