OT - What is it with Holden owners???

Was driving on the Hume the other day when I was passed by a new Commodore ute. He'd gone to some trouble to remove the old lion Holden badge from the front grille and replaced it with the Chevrolet bowtie logo. Sure it might have a Chev derived engine but why the Chev badge?

Then I saw an old WB ute with the B&S stickers all over it and the mudflaps on the back proclaiming "Kenworth".

Don't these blokes want to admit they drive a Holden?

Or is it that they think an alternative badge makes their car more "desirable"?

If that's the case, why don't they put Nissan badges on their clapped out Toyotas???

Michael,

If only they could drive Herne Spur in a Nissan or a clapped out Toyota.

That would sort the men from the pretenders.

'If that's the case, why don't they put Nissan badges on their clapped out Toyotas???'

Are you saying that a Nissan is the equivalent of a clapped out Toyota? It would want to be pretty clapped out.

They don't put Nissan Badges on them for the same reason they don't put Rolls Royce, Bugatti, or Maybach badges on them, by aiming so high they are in fear of people not believing them.

Even I would believe a Chev badge cos they are GM #%*+ too.

"Sure it might have a Chev derived engine but why the Chev badge?"

Why not? He's got Chev parts under the bonnet... There's plenty of 4WD's out there with ARB, TJM, Lightforce, etc. parts on them & the owners have their stickers plastered all over the car...

"Then I saw an old WB ute with the B&S stickers all over it and the mudflaps on the back proclaiming "Kenworth"."

I wouldn't single out Holden drivers on this one... I've seen plenty of Fords with the same stuff on them... Seen plenty of other utes with it, too...

Cheers, Brad

comon guys give them a break, the first thing I did when I got my twin turbo porsche 911 was take the badges off with a crow bar and sticky tape on some layland marina badges, I now get way more comments, head turns, and drive bys.

He may well have done nothing.

Some HSV derivatives of the "commodore" range are released with the Chev logo on them.

Jeez....I better not even mention that I drive a Patrol with a sign on the back proclaiming "Powered by CHEV" in a blue bow-tie emblem. I also have CAT mudflaps behind all 4 wheels.

I guess I must have some sort of identity crisis.

Strewth, I don't believe I'm even responding to this stupid post!!!

I use to drive a wb all the time...didnt have 2nd gear and somehow managed to get pulled over by the cops at Taralga Rodeo and they let us go...no tail lights, on headlight (but saved by spotties), full of rust, out of rego by 1 week.......and the old girl has finally died....soooo many adventures in it!!!!!! aaahhhh those were the days...pulling down almost built houses with it, rodeos, paddock work, chasing skippys....i can still see her!

Had a T shirt once with an advert on it. I asked the advertiser what commission I would get if I wore it in the street. I didn't get a reply

" replaced it with the Chevrolet bowtie logo"

Didn't the old hq monaros with the chevs have the bowtie badge on them... it probably stems from that.
