As a two wheel traveller, it used to worry me that I'd hit a crow, never mind a flamin cow!! Arrrrrgh, and there's the rub.
You've been quietish Doug. Anticipation jitters?
Mate, I'm trying to locate a gentleman named seven. If you cross his path, ask him to contact David at EO please.
Thanks and stay dry .

Cows must be on the move due to the rain, except for Boulia where they just think it's going to rain.

Over the past couple of weeks I have come across 2 accidents in which the cows will never get to see the inside of an abattoir.

One of the accidents involved a motorcycle and a car.

Ive Just upgraded from a Fireblade to a Hayabusa ( suzuki GSX1300 R )

dont know what is worse -Unpredictable cage drivers or Animals !

for those interested pic is here-

quick story - friend and i was out for a ride,( me on a 900 fireblade , he was on a VFR750) ended up out near Cessnock and stopped in at the pub for a bite - a few minutes before we left we observed a guy and his girlfriend leave about 4 minutes before us ( both on there own bikes ) he took off like a bat out of hell on his back wheel.

anyway about 10 min down the road in a particularly curvey section , we see debris , a bike and a dead animal on one of the corners, we obviously stop to offer assistance - the girl was fine as she was following and was about 5 sec behind her BF - the guy hit what i first thought was a dog and ended up on the road - He was ok , a testament to wearing correct riding gear when out , no matter what the temperature outside is ( not squidding - ) I take a look at the dead animal on the road and it ends up being GOAT - the thing was ripped in half. We leave shortly after to continue our journey to sydney but at a much slower pace and far more allert to animals that may sprint out from the side of the road.....

knowing i have a 80% more chance of being seriously injured on a bike that if i drive may cage , but why do i still choose my bike over my cage ? Much more fun ....

To sum it up - don't squid , wear the right gear when you ride - you don't look cool if your wearing singlet and thongs with shorts ,.... and you certainly wont look cool with gravel rash on most of your body ....

Boc

P.s squidding is when you don't wear any protective gear, for those that do not know .

Mate of mine used to do the vintage bike races thing in Sid Knee. He went up there and paid $800 (1970's !) for new leathers. Took them out for a spin on the Ducatti and came off. New leathers NBG any more.
I asked how could he come off when he raced bikes with the best on the circuit?
"Yeah, but we all go round the same way, and most of us know what we're doing," he replied.
Bikes and cars just don't mix.

Damn they are one ugly motorcycle those eyeabusers! Plenty of bottom end grunt but and if you do hit a cow it won`t hurt the look of the bike

Mate of mine used to have a bike like that but sold it. He said it was too tempting to go flying around country roads doing 180kmh. Got to that speed in about 12 seconds!

My GQ did 180 km once, mind you it took nearly 2 hours to do thay 180km.

Hi Doug

Thats sad.

Can understand this only to well as we have now had 3 animals killed (1 roo and 2 wallabies) near our place by the kids on trail bikes in last year.

The animals jump out from fences with bush right up to them on tracks that go to within a meter or two of the fence and no one has much reaction time. Fortunately bike speeds are usually 30-40kmh and no serious injuries to riders has occurred.

Makes you wonder if some of the bikes are not to quiet !
