Oodnadatta Track.

In July, whilst driving from Darwin to Melbourne, we would like to travel via the Oodnadatta from Marlo to Maree. Would appreciate feedback from anyone who has done the trip recently with regard to track condition and if it would be suitable to tow a dual axle 18' Coramal Offroad van with the Prado Diesel. Would appreciate the information.

Drop your tyre pressures and watch out for rocks getting flicked up and off the front of the van.

Don,

If conditions are dryish, you will have no problem.

July, being the middle of winter, may see more rain about the area and the best advice I can give is to keep your eye on the Road Conditions area under Topics at the top of the screen.

Also, the SA government Road Conditions will also give you up to date information as your departure date draws near.

I towed Coromal dual axle standard van (not offroad) there with Troopy 2 years ago ... July ... no problems at all ... lots of rocks ... had fitted stone guard on van (protects van from rocks ... but also boubnce-back onto your rear windows).

W struck one of those outback rallies ... first 2 cars were a problem as they sped thru ... but a few words on the UHF made others aware ... and more courteous when passing.
