I was wondering if anyone can help . We were told that we could drive from
coongie lakes to
Birdsville track but you have to go through a station & get permission first . is this right if it is right how do we go about getting in contact with the station?

I don't know of any track north west from the
Coongie Lake, but you may be able to cut accross to
Walkers Crossing off the Coongie Track.
After leaving
Innamincka have a look for a out station track on your left. This may take you accross to Gidgealpa.
Give the rangers at
Innamincka a ring.

Kim

No you are unable to drive west from
Coongie Lakes to the
Birdsville Track. Go back to
Innamincka and then on through
Walkers Crossing or up through
Cordillo Downs.

Just out of curiosity, does the out station track I mentioned, take you across to Gidgealpa or some where around Tirrawarra?
