If you'venever done a 4x4 course and are new to 4 wheel off road driving it could be a great investment for you. Meantime have a look at this

I would do some other tracks before Arkaroola, it would come in handy if you knew the capabilities of your 4x4 and yourself.
Find someone with experience and follow them.
It can be a demanding track.
What type of 4x4 have you ot?

If you are asking about the Echo
Camp Back Track, you do need to know what you are doing. We did it last year, and previously in 1999. In 2007 found it very cut up in the trickier sections where people had tackled it in wrong gear etc. Was a lot rougher and harder on vehicle than in 99. While you are visiting Arkaroola, the Ridge Top Tour is well worth the money. There is an excellent drive out to the
old ruins at Yudnamatana.
