Yes I know that but they deal with heaps of others as well. My car is heavily modified and none of the normal companies (CGU, AIMI,RACQ,QBE...etc etc wanted anything to do with me. I think I am using a mob called unique cars as the insures and alliance is the underwriter

I have had no problems with QBE, although it is a business motor vehicle cover.

The thing to bear in mind with comprehensive insurance is that if it isn't specifically excluded, than coverage is generally included. Once you start asking them to deine their policies you run the risk of limiting your cover.

I use a broker TCIS for my custom Landy and found them time consuming, but good.

Hve had my Prado with AAMI for years. They cover 100% of off road use, except competitions.

Mine hasn't been modified that much from factory spec except snorkel, battery setup, roof rack and front bar which are all covered.

Even shopped around and the TCIS cover was no better or cheaper.

Hi Guys,
i use Just Car Insurance and pay $800 a year for full cover on and off road. i am 23 and have a extensively modified GU ute with 35" tyres, 3" exhaust, suspension lift, winch, canvas canopy. etc, etc.
Agreed value of $40,000.

Very good deal i think.
Cheers
Brett

Brett,

I am interested to know how you get away with that because I have been wanting to run a bigger lift in my GU and I assume you don't have a 2 inch lift? but I can't get a modification plate for that in QLD so I am assuming you are interstate?

Hi Troll,

I have a 3 inch suspension lift and am from Vic.
I found that getting a quote from Just Car over the internet was $800 cheaper than when i got a quote over the phone.
I do believe Just Car is meant to be cheaper for younger people but not sure how this works.
To be honest, i am not sure how legal / illegal my patrol is with regards to height, tyres, etc but i nominated everything to the insurance company and everything is in writing so as far as i can see, i am covered in the event of a claim.

Regards
Brett

Brett,

In QLD the legal height is 50mm 2 inch suspension and 50mm body, last time I checked. You will find that your insurance company will tell you what ever you want to hear but they will always say as long as it's legal we will cover but it's your responsibility to make sure it's legal. A mate of mine is in the insurance game and he told me even though you list everything halve the time the person on the other end doesn’t know what a lift is a 35 inch rubber or what ever the case might be. In the event of a accident and the assessor sees you have illegal things they won't pay out and in the event of death or other complicated issues you could be liable and up $#@ creek. I know the law is different in NSW and people in QLD will register their trucks down there to get around the system.

I'm in Sydney and with NRMA. No dramas there. 2inch lift with the new shocks and springs, snorkel, front and rear bars. A little bit pricey but that's because my driving history is bleep house. If you got a clean record you'll be right.

Affinity are to go. They are the insurers for the Four Wheel Drive Victoria scheme. Great cover, respected insurer, good service, etc.

I have to agree with Parso. I have used affinity in Melbourne for the last 4 yrs and no probs. Their prices are pretty good and and they do insure up to 3" suspesion lift as well as other mods. One of my mates has made a claim through them and had no probs at all.
Good luck.
