hi everyone

i would like to get some opinions on some spotties
i going to put some lights on my LC 105 i've narrowed it down to
light force 240's or 220 mm roo lites,i do prefer the light force but i just cant justify the price and you have to buy the wiring harness seperate, roo lites are cheaper and you get the harness included but are also smaller.

would like to hear some pros and cons of each light and past experiences with them.

thanks guys
regards brentos

We have the Roo Lites on our Paj, and are very hapy with them, The advice I got was that if you travel a lot at night, it might be worth the extra $, but these light up the road really well (and also the verge for wildlife etc)

Neil,

I have a similar model turbo diesel paj, also with bullbar.

Your photo got me thinking if the bullbar disturbs the airflow to the intercooler vent at speed?

What do you reckon?

Yeh and look at the restriction to airflow to the radiator, Might just go for a drive one day and nick em, keep one for me and give Crazy Dog the other,

G'day John ,,
don't really know if the bar disturbs the airflow to the intercooler ,, doesn't seem to , still performs well , however ,, the bar was on it when we got it , so can't talk from the experience of befor and after !!

All the best , Neil !!

I too have the Narva's & price wise & for brightness they are good value. I have blended my hand held Lightforce SL 240 Blitz spotlight into their beams when shooting with minimal brightness difference between the two.

Got Light Force on my Toyota over here and put a set of Roo Lites on my Pajero in Australia.
Very impressed with the whole roo lite deal, much cheaper and includes everything with easy to follow instructions.
I thought the quality was good and was very happy when I used them, really lit up the road as good as any other I have had.
Highly recommend them.
Cheers,
Dennis

Brentos

Is spotties the answer? Well it depends what you are trying to achieve? They will give you great light when you have an open road or are off road.

We found that whilst our driving lights solved this problem, we also wanted more light on low beam. We found by upgrading the wiring loom and installing upgraded light enclosures, we were able to have stronger low beam lights.

We end result is that we now have 95wt low beams, 110wt high beams with this solution. Whilst we still have our 135wt driving lights, when we turn them on, they make very little difference to our normal high beam lights.

We can now see really well when on low beam when facing ongoing cars, and we have fantastic high beam lights for the open road.

The big point to remember is that the upgraded wiring lume is probably the most important upgrade. It makes a big difference.

Howdy zebra,
i drove a 80 series like yours for years. The standard low beam is just shocking. I did renew the wiring loom with decent cabling which improved the lights a lot. The thing i would be mindful of though is that it is not legal (at least not in QLD) to have more then 65watt light bulbs installed. Doing this will render your car unroadworthy and voids your insurance.
As for spotties, Lightforce is the ultimate but the price is just prohibitive for most people so I have opted for german Hella lights which I can't fault.
Cheers, Udo

I couldn't really afford the Lightforce, so I bought the poor man's copy, the Roo Lites.
Bang for the buck, they are excellent. Cost me $220 landed including the harness.
One of my better purchases :)

Well - whatever you buy be warned that they can be pinched very easily. Drill hole below fixing nuts and put padlocks or betta still when not in use remove them or you may find some gherkinhead peesa s**t will steal them like my brand new ROO LITES at Traralgon this year... and while I was parked at a mates place front end in an all... in his driveway...

Bloody double GRRR!!! GRRR!!!

you soon forget about price if the product meets or exceeds your expectations. Your first night drive will also confirm your purchase (curse yourself for buying cheaper quality or pat yourself on the back and the night turns into day).
Never buy a product on price alone. You get what you pay for.

What Crazy Dog said in Spades.

I had my Roo Lites nicked by some low life.
...mmm...maybe they are that good if they're worth stealing!

BTW I had so called anti theft nuts on extended bolts. These don't well work so well 'cause the cretins can unplug the cable and twist the light around on the roo bar until the nut starts to slip so much it is easily undone with fingers.

Solution: Yes use anti theft nuts (about $20 a pair) and use a long bolt. Bend the bolt so the nut can not be unscrewed. or Araldite the length or the thread. Removal is easy if you need to replace...angle grinder! The guys from midnight spares are strangely reluctant to use an angle grinder on your vehicle, in your driveway at midnight. Funny that.
