In June/July we are doing a centre trip and currently our plan has us going from Mt Dare to Alice but this is about 680km when going through Old Andado to Lambert centre, and in and out of Chambers pillar.

What advice does anyone have on the reliability of getting fuel at Finke? Probably at Finke on Friday 20/6/08

680 is approaching fuel range limit when towing CT for one of our vehicles and does not allow a great safety marging for others.

Thanks in anticipation!

Alan,

When you go to Chambers Pillar you will go past Maryvale Station 08 8956 0989. They have a shop plus fuel.

If you can't get fuel at Fink this is the next stop.

Camping at Chambers Pillar is limited and I don't think that trailers are permitted.

Well worth the trip.

Fuel should not be an issue at finke
From memory the hours are not very long, so don't pull in to late.

Not sure about trailers at the pillar, but there is no real problem getting in, just a little steep rocky hill.

PS: the road into Lamberts seams to gon on forever winding in and around the trees.

Hi as Wanye said. I would plan for fuel at Maryvale station. looked more reliable as they have the day trip coaches pass through regular and stop for food etc.
Last time i was at Chambers pillar 05 camper trailers were ok.
but the sites are tight and posted off mainly for tents.
when i was there three camper trailers no tents.
There are long drops and fire places.
Rob.
I only ever made one mistake
and that's when I thought I was wrong!

You Hairy buggar

Don't butt in before me.

Just thought of something. We could start a business showing travellers the ecological features along both sides of the road to Maryvale. LOL.

Give it a bit of time and it'll be heritage listed...

Regards

Kim

I was sitting here waiting and waiting.....I thought you must have nodded off..... or where you just having a seniors moment.

Yeah ..Ill be in the that ...or we could just pick them all up and retire on the refund.

Ive got a blackfella mate coming over in a minute...the one who said he would take you for a cultural tour of Alice. Poor bugger is pulling his hair out over all this Native title snot. Hes right at the top of the ladder and has had enough. I think he wants to sit down and get pull drunk and talk about life. Always a great night.
So Please excuse my latter dribble in advance.

Gidday Alan

I wish you all the best at Finke. They may be there to fill you up, but don't rely on it unless your prepared to hang around for a fair bit of time.

The trip your proposing is not all that hard. Fill up a few jerry cans at Mt Dare to get you though.

Regards

Kim

Gday Mate,
Ill try ang give you a bit of an idea.
Around the 10th... Queens birthday weekend is the Finke Desert race. Over this weekend fuel is an issue! I live here and know(used to) most concerned. Those in the know can get a key (or someone) and get fuel. But sometimes they run out! If I cant get fuel..you have no chance...
You sound like a week after. That puts you back to bad timming, bowsers should be full, ......the communities had a gut full of visitors....
Again....I wouldnt RELY on fuel at Finke.

Hope that helps

Cheers
