Hi All
When travelling is there any information, re Publications of Medical
Practioners ect, in Towns ect, mainly for after hours emergencies,
some times its hard to enquire if the locals are not around at the time. ps I know you can look in a Phone Book if you can find one.
Cheers

If you are going into the 'outback' why not
check with Flying Doctor. They will be able to tell you. Otherwise just
check with local people, shopkeeper, Servo,
Police Station etc.

The RFDS has a assistance number where you can speak to a duty Doctor.
The best number is 000 and speak to a Ambo, the Ambos who man the phones are very highly trained and in some cases better then the ones on the road.
If it a illness you would be better speaking to a Doctor but if it is an emergency you would be better speaking to someone who has emergency and patient care experience.
Not all doctors are trained or good at emergency medicine.
Both the RFDS and Ambos would be able to put you in contact with a medical person.
Regards Richard

My better three quarters is one of the ambos who man the phone. She works on the road as
well.. They are one in the same...
Yep 000 for an emergency. If it's not an emergency have a
well stocked
first aid kit and that will do the job. Go to a doc when the locals appear and you can ask.
Make sure your ambo dues are paid up. A retrieval from the outback costs an awful lot otherwise.

Royce,
A 423km ambulance trip cost $756 in July 2002, I am glad we had private Health insurance for that one.
Cheers Kev

Royce, what I meant by being better trained is the way the can deal with over the phone emergency.
It cost use $76.00 per years for 2 people for full ambulance cover.

Agreed Richard... definitely takes a different and additional skill to be a good operator in comms.
Sadly the good and bad work together as in all professions.
Proudly.... my girl is one of the good ones!

sometimes there are bush nursing hospitals on your track
check out ph nos at their front doors ,had to get very sick at
White cliffs at dawn ,hubby drove to local hosp got ph no rang and spoke directly to RFDS ,35mins later plane was on the strip,20 days later a repeat episode of renal stones RFDS Staff are wonderful ended up in
Adelaide by RFDS .We are pensioners and the only charity i will give to is RFDS ,not one invoice was sent to us .Now inLightning Ridge area and same applies here .If necessary wake up a camper or
homestead ,the only place to become ill in Australia now is in the outback .Incidently have never been fitter!since all the city bugs left my system.Dont rely on your phone as it may be out of reach ,have good firs aid kit and also a
first aid course is almost mandaroty if going outback Good Luck you will have no need to panic and you will be fitter .

you either go to the hopital, without a hospital there will be no doctor.
If there is no hospital go to the nursing post which will be sighnposted
