Hi all
My son was with a mate the other night filling up with diesel when his mate pulled the pump early getting diesel all over his clothes. When he came home he put the clothes in the laundry amongst other clothes to be washed and now everything smells like diesel. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the smell out. I have washed everything twice and given the machine a good rinse with vinegar but the clothes still smells.
Help me please as my wife will be home soon after working all weekend.

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve H,

We have a farm and as you would expect I have often been covered in diesel and grease and diesel oil, the old stuff, dirty black stuff.

My boss sprays my clothes with degreaser first before she puts them in the washing machine. Best to do them on their own and not mix them with other clothes for obvious reasons.

The clothes come out clean and fresh. A little extra detergent in the water would be advisable if you do also.

Regards,
Bruce.

When in the Army, after a day's work on asst'd vehicles I always used a cup of kero in the wah with plenty of soap powder. A couple of days out in the sun usually freshened everything up nicely. I guess that's one thing about Army issue, it really stood up to whatever you dished up.

hey Steve, pity you washed them mate, that has probably set the stain and the smell. Always try and have them dry cleaned, bit expensive. My better half was in the dry cleaning industry for years. Worth a try but. Look out old son I can hear your misses comin. Cheers Dave

I can recommend BioMagic, the same stuff we use in our portable toilet and at home for other uses.

My son is a heavy duty fitter and my wife uses 4 to 6 capfulls of nappysan in a normal omo wash and no smell. Or maybe we are just used to it now.

Well here we go.
My darling has come home. It's not me who's in trouble it's my son. Anyhow she is relieved that i have the knwledge of exploreoz behind me to helpout and with all the responses i have had I am sure I can fix the problem . When I said C18 truckwash she just gave us the look but the word napisan went down pretty good. She did remind us that doing what seems to be such a meaningless task can become a major disaster. The reason I have been doing these jobs is that she allways said to me she would be the major income earner when the kids grow up and she is doing a fantastic job of that so I try to do a bit more than I used to. All in all she get a bit of a laugh out of it.

Thanks

Steve

Have been a mechanic for 23 years and CT 18 truck wash does the best with euclyptas oil (small bit) in the fabric softener section.
